There is still time as the polls are always biased against the Republicans. The real gap is not as large as is being reported by the liberal mainstream media.

I guess the question is, and will continue to be, how do we as a nation pay for the financial mess George W. Bush created ? I know everyone hates taxes but someone has to pay for things. The tax and spend solution of the Democrats at least makes some economic sense, the borrow and spend policies of the Republicans is just plain nuts.

As Michael Savage once said at least if you tax people they understand the cost of things and will be more resistant to increases in government spending. If you don't tax people then no one cares about the governmental spending going nuts. The last eight years of this administration is a prime example. No one cared, everyone was just happy to have their boy in office and now we have a mess on our hands.

If nothing else we should just tax the snot out of people so the realize what idiocy has been running the country for almost eight years. After all people voted to get into this mess and eventually the piper wants to be paid. Everyone eventually needs a swift kick to the tuckus for electing the folks that got us here.

And this isn't a surprise. Many folks have been saying since before the last election that if Bush get re-elected the guy following him would be forced to raise taxes. Bush got elected with that full knowledge being out there. Oh, yeah, people tried to ignore it but anyone with any kind of foresight knew the cards being dealt. And now ? Hey, you guys voted for this mess to be created, perhaps now we could have some ideas as to how to fix it.

And indeed, it is not very American to just worry about yourselves and your 6 and 7 figure incomes when our health as a nation is at stake.

PS: the tax rebate plan did nothing to help so I'm guessing just lowering taxes in the face of monumental budget deficits is as foolish for the future as it has been in the past.

The Bush tax cuts pulled us out of the last recession. The mortgage debacle and excessive spending put us in another one. To get us out of this next one the economy must be stimulated again and this time SPENDING must be slashed.

Spending slashed by whom ? Neither party has shown the least bit of inclination to do that. So if you aren't going to slash spending you need to increase taxes.

All I've ever heard is how Republicans believe in smaller government. What a crock.

That is the major failing of the Bush second term, never saw a spending bill he didn't like. I'm not ready to give into what is a foolish course of action. Congress must be held accountable for reducing spending or throw all the bums out regardless of party. The government fucks up everything they ever try to do except national defense, I damned sure don't want to give them more to fuck up.

As a doctor do you favor government control of health care? Look north to Canada for what that's like.

And after voting for Bush twice you think the Republicans have improved anything ? Maybe it's time to stop listening to Rush Limbaugh and start understanding what the Republicans have been doing. Borrow and spend is a meltdown waiting to happen.

I'm sorry but I'm blaming the folks who voted for Bush as getting us to this point. The writing was on the wall but everyone voted based on what Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, and Rush Limbaugh spew and now it's time to be men and admit the folly and take the responsibility of voting for the man who captained us into the icebergs.

As a doctor do you favor government control of health care? Look north to Canada for what that's like.
I have news for you: it is basically government controlled and everyone seems to be surviving. Doctors are paid based generally on Medi Care reimbursement rates (set by the government and adhered to by an illegal trust of colluding insurance carriers). The private companies are taking your money, paying docs and hospitals at a government rate, and pocketing enough to give their management folks 8 and 9 figure incomes while reimbursing shareholders and building who knows what type of office buildings.

Certainly because of this Docs are making less money than they did in the good old days and though I'd like to make more I am doing well and would not do any worse under socialized medicine. Now I even have insurance companies not paying or cutting reimbursement below MediCare rates so I'd probably do a little better personally.

Also look at the Medical field: everything I or the hospital do is government controlled. How I practice, what I can prescribe, what forms I need to fill out, what I need to put in a chart is already dictated by the government. Now MediCare is instituting a program ensuring that for certain diagnoses a hospital stay should be a certain length and the care should be provided a certain way. Private companies are on the bandwagon with that as well.

I'm sorry to inform you but while you weren't looking socialized medicine happened and the only folks who have anything more to lose are CEO's and their ilk and they'll try to convince you there would be some changes of Armageddon like proportions.

Not for me though.

And probably not for you.

I agree medical care had declined considerably in recent years but it could get even worse with additional government intervention.

McCain isn't Bush. He spent over two decades in congress without a single pork earmark to his credit. Of the choices we now have he is clearly the lesser of the spenders. Obama has one million in pork to his credit for each day he spent in the senate.

The only way out of this mess is the stimulation of business and the slashing of spending. Hoover raised taxes during a recession and you know how that worked out.

Blaming one person, ie: George Bush is simply too easy. For starters, isn't this a Democratic Congress? Secondly, as much as I don't like Bush's policies, Congress has played a huge role in the this debacle.

I'm curious, what would Kerry have done so amazing that would have prevented all of this?

Bush actually wanted to regulate Fannie&Mac. But the democrats voted against it. I hope Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Pelosi and the others. Rot in hell..
