Shot placement is everything in a gun fight, .40 SW rounds ineffective?
Saw this review and police investigation of a shootout between a punk and a couple cops. Punk was hit numerous times with .40 cal SW rounds and didn't drop him till a .223 came into play.
Interesting read, and nasty autopsy photos.
Might be a repost but who cares, interesting read.
How ironic that his tatoos read "Live by the gun, die by the gun" and "What does not kill you makes you stronger". I don't think this made him stronger.
Shot placement is everything. Thats why practice and proficiency is so important. The first thing my sheriff buddy asked me after I told him about a recent pistol purchase was "Are you proficient with it yet?".
Well, unless you have a .50 cal Desert Eagle. In that case shooting their foot would probably make the bad guy die from shock.

Well, uh, cause it killed him If he had lived, he would be pretty fucking strong.
That guy was an animal...he took 17 rounds and they still had trouble getting the cuffs on him !!!. Fuck that.. come near me and you're getting 15+1 in the eyeball!!

I have a Sig 226 that I can't hit shit with. If my life depends on a sidearm, it will definitely be a .44 mag. And yes, I'm proficient out to 100 yards.
Over here in Jacksonville the police shot a suspect something like 24 times with .223 and a .40. He was hit once in the face and and the rest all over his body. He lived and is fine now (other than going to prison for the rest of his life).

Thats why I like my PX4 Beretta so much. The thing is so easy to put bullets where you want its just crazy. All guns have their quirks, thats why its important to practice often with whatever you carry.
Punching paper and shooting straight when your life is in danger are two different situations. I'm not saying that learning to shoot at targets is useless but it is surely no guarantee. I have seen champion shooters fire the contents of a magazine into the ground three feet in from of them when the assailant was twenty yards away.

This post has more merit in the clam thread I started.
