About 1/3 of Paradise is being evacuated tonight (again) because of fire. This is on the other side of town from where I'm at so for now we're ok but the bags are packed and we're awaiting notice. This one is further away from us but unlike the last one which was an out of control brush fire this one if it gets into Paradise coming from the north will be an out of control forest fire (much worse).
The hospital has been evacuated and all patients transferred to other facilities in the area.
Man, it's been a long summer and we aren't even halfway through July.

When he comes over, be on the alert. Retards are shifty. And they have retard strength. You don't need him ripping your arms off with his bare hands. Never underestimate the power of a retard.

No good bro. I am in a fire prone area as well, so I know what you are going through. Hopefully, it will not get any closer to you.
Thanks for the thoughts but as I told my daughter when she was in tears "We haven't lost anything yet." I'm doing ok except for the stress.
Some folks, unfortunately have not been as lucky as I. My thoughts are going out to the firefighters and the folks who had to leave. My friend had a million dolllar home less than 6 months old burn down in the last fire. He moved back into his old house that he couldn't sell because of the realty crunch and tonight he is under mandatory evacuation from his old house. That's rough. He could lose everthing twice in 4 weeks.
I was wondering last night how many Alley members were affected by the fires in Califonia,Good luck V.P,my thoughts and prayers are with your Family and the Rest of California.
Ya know, I was thinking about this last night as I was falling asleep, and something occurred to me...
This man has had to prep to leave his home twice in the last few weeks, with the thought of possibly losing it and everything in it to a raging fire.
A lot of people would be bitching and whining about why me, yadda yadda yadda. But all I see from him is a slight note of exasperation, concern for his family, and more importantly, concern for others. That impresses me.
Good luck VP, I hope this morning finds you and yours well.

The dirty beach formerly known as Trash
112 degrees today forecast for Chico (12 miles down the road) but the fire is continuing to be held at the river and behind the 3 bulldozer wide fire break they built there.
Is anyone thinking about solutions? Or a better way to fight the fires?
Two come to mind: Fire breaks with sprinklers pre-installed (built during the off-fire-season)
US gov't un-mothballs all B-52's. Equiped to 'carpet bomb' fire retardants or water.
Problem is you can never tell where a fire will start or which direction it will go so you can't tell where to put a fire break.
They have DC 10 built to drop fire retardant but for many days here the smoke has been so thick so many miles from the fire that the planes have been grounded. They need a 3 mile visibility to operate and right now it looks like fog out there and I just stepped outside (cough, cough) and I couldn't even see the sun.
Nature just always reminds us that she is a worthy opponent.
