This, plus nuclear power to provide the electrical power, is our future. Imagine a 60 mile commute in a Suburban every day using zero fossel fuel. Sweet!
GM can save their sorry ass if they get on the stick!

Just make sure you (as a city) buy Westinghouse AP1000s, but not GE ESBWRs. I heard GE's nuclear plants support child beatings.
Is it just me,or did the Guy driving the Viper not seem to be trying to hard to beat that electric car? Not to mention the cost of Replacing 7000 Damn Batteries! I think I would choose the Viper.

That race looked fixed, but they did claim that the electric will do 0-60 in 3.6 sec. 1/4 mile the Viper would win.
Replacing 7000 laptop batteries would definitely cut into the gas savings.
Altair nano makes some sweet batteries going into the British Lightning. Recharge in 5 minutes and can supply enough current for way over 700 HP. They also are relatively inexpensive.

What's the expected life span?
The claimed 15 yr/150,000 miles sound very good compared to some of the other setups I've heard of.
With the sports car, it must be 7000 laptop battery cells rather then 7000 laptop batteries like the guy is holding up. 7000 laptop batteries alone would weigh 3500 lb +.

That's one of the best parts. If memory serves, 1.5 million miles at the 85% of original capacity point.
