I know we had some people in here into phones/connections whatever. Besides the new iPhone, any other recommendations of what to wait for or what might be coming out soon? I.E. Samsung Instinct, HTC Touch etc. Wasn't there a new BB model thats similar? I'm on Howard Forum but theres just way too much info on there lol.
I had a Cing 8525 that I loved, till I put it on the floor, and happen to kneel down right on it
I have learned that it pays to have insurance on the higher end phones. I use a treo 700 and I believe I pay 5/month extra to insure it. If it breaks for any reason I have a brand new on within days.

Dude, everyone told me just use your insurance, I'm like I didn't have insurance on it, looked at me like I was crazy lol. All these years never had insurance on any of the phones, definitely changing that when I get another media phone. Using a basic back up one right now and don't want to buy current ones out as I know some new models are coming late this summer. Lesson learned, don't buy $400+ phone without insurance lol. The phone still works, but its the lcd screen thats crack.
My biz partner dropped his phone in the toilet while taking a leak , he got another one but can't recall through insurance or not. But I do remember a friends finance got insurance on her phone, about a 3 days later dropped it and they replaced it no problem.

Depends what kind of phone you have. AT&T won't give you insurance on any phone over 300 and I believe Verizon says the same thing.
What service do you have? If you have AT&T or T Mobile there are TONS of great phones available to you here and overseas. With Verizon or Sprint you are kind of limited by them using CDMA networks versus GSM.

I mean it depends, you obviously can get all the blackberries and the iphone. I personally am going to get the new iphone as I loved my old iphone. If you wanna go against the norm and get something from overseas, I've heard nothing but good things about the HTC Tilt

Yeh the Tilt is the new version of the 8525 I had, but their Touch coming out looks awesome.

I have verizon and my last three phones were all north of the 300 you claim they cap at. Perhaps it is area specific? Don't know. What I do know is that once you have 2 claims in a 12 month period your insurance is cancelled. I had a screen go black on 1 palm making it useless and another had its sound go out also making it useless. Both were replace via warranty. I do believe they charged me 50 bucks as a co-pay for the claim though. Still not bad considering last year I got 800 in phones for only 60 insurance and 100 in co-pay fees. Shit happens. The insurance is absolutely worth it. Hell, even if you approach the end of your coverage you can toss the thing on the floor and get yourself a fresh one. Just make sure you download all your info to the computer so transferring the numbers is easy.
verizon will insure any phone. likie josh i have a 700wx and ive busted it twice and got it replaced. but twice is the max on the one policy or per term.
the HTC touch is a nice phone im told. tell us how ya like it
wifey just got a new VZW BB curve and loves it. im tempted to switch when the new OS comes out so i can view and edit excel files.
BTW, Verizon warranties there phones through a third party named Insurion I believe. Call the number Verizon gives you and answer a couple easy questions, pay the fee for the claim (50, in my case) and they fedex another phone to you the next day usually. You are required to ship back the damaged phone as well which they cover the shipping on or face stiff additional charges for not doing so.
Well thats cool I will not deny Verizon is better than AT&T! I had Verizon and loved it but switched so I could get better phones and phones overseas I do know my BJ, Curve, BJ2, and iphone..........they would not insure and it also says on AT&T's website the new iphone as well will not fall under their insurance plan..............now I know you can go to the Apple store and they will do a swap for you but not AT&T, thats why I'm going to get mine at the Apple store.
verizon has world phones too.....ya just need to call verizon and ask for them to add over seas service to your phone and ITS FREE. i just did it back in may for a trip to the bahamas

I'm talking about buying phones from overseas. 90% of all phones overseas are GSM and not CDMA. I don't even have to call AT&T I went to Italy and my phone still worked over there
I know I am a noob and probably going to get neg rep for posting but I figured I may be able to help out on this subject.. I am a salesman at a AT&t wireless store (for now) and have been taking some hella training on this new iphone and maybe able to answer a couple questions if you have any.. best thing is even if I personally do not know the answer I can ask.
btw new blackberry coming out is called blackberry bold.. looks cool hopefully have the same durability and reception that old blackberrys do.
you can also get insurance on any at&t phone except the iphone now.. but the deductible is $125 on most pda's whereas the regular phones are only $50 deductible. with iphone only thing offered is apple care package but not real familiar with what it covers, josh is right they will swap at apple store or fix yours but it doesn't matter where you actually buy the original.
I am a noob and I know I must earn my respect, therefore I am definitely not trying to act like I know anything more than anyone else but I do have the right people to ask is all..

Do you know of any new phones coming to AT&T in the upcoming months (besides iPhone)? I'll pos rep you if you do

Look for the BlackBerry 9000 (Bold) as stated above. Also look for the Samsung Omnia, Sony Ericsson Xperia (X1). We'll also have a new version of the Pantech Duo coming. Regular phones include the Nokia 3555, Sony Ericsson Z780 and the Pantech C510 and C710. Also look for a rugged Motorola W760r with our Push To Talk service on it and a new Razr V9X.
Wow, love the Touch Pro but won't be out till later this year Touch Pro
I like the touchscreen phones, but typing on the screen is awkward. I'm so used to the 8525 keyboard which rocked, blew away every other phones keyboard. That was a good media phone, all I hear of others with other makes is dropping theirs and breaking them, I dropped that phone dozens of times. I would forget its on my lap and would get out of the vehicle sending the phone flying on the concrete. Never skipped a beat. Buddies iPhone falls off the desk and stopped working. The other thing is with the touchscreen would get all smeared and finger printed etc, at least with the 8525 I could use the screen or flip the keyboard out.
Snatch, yeh saw the new Bold, never got into the whole BB thing, what do think of it?
