A 19-year-old man accidentally shot and killed himself Tuesday while attempting to rob a Grand Prairie home, authorities said.
Cameron Sands of Fort Worth kicked in the door of the house and shot himself in the stomach as he pulled a gun out of his pants to shoot the homeowner, police said. The homeowner was not injured.
After Mr. Sands shot himself, he dropped the gun and ran out of the house. Police found his body about 5:30 a.m. in the driveway of the home in the 2800 block Garden Grove Road, said Lt. John Brimmer, a Grand Prairie police spokesman.
"This is the first that I've heard of a robbery suspect killing himself as he is drawing a gun out of his waistband," Lt. Brimmer said. "The criminal evidence points to that. It certainly isn't common."
The Tarrant County medical examiner has ruled the death an accident.
I can just imagine the homeowner sitting there eating supper, a forkfull of mashers half-way to his mouth as our hero kicks in the door, quickly gut-shoots himself, and runs back out, all in the space of a few seconds. I mean sure, there's the dinner and a movie concept, but you can't pay money for entertainment like that.
Lucky homeowner. Hell of a story to tell his grandkids.
Haha that's right down the street from my house. Not even a 5 minute drive, the Homeboys here said they still gonna lickup homes cause tha aint gonna happn to thm!
Friend of mine knew this kid and said he was never really the smarted kid on the block but RIP, glad karma still works
I'm sure the next thing we will be hearing is the hood's family suing the gun manufacturer for accidental death or the clothing manufacturer for an ill designed waistband. Those gangster clothing styles must have function as well as fashion.
THIS IS GREAT. Now when someone gives me shit or breaks in my house all I have to do is gut shoot him and say he did it to himself as he came in...PERFECT.
