This is why I gave up a car for a daily driver. I was spending about $300/mo on fuel. I now ride a 2006 Yamaha R6. I still go home for lunch everyday but I'm only spending about $40/mo on gas. On days when the weather is bad enough I can't ride. I take the Kia. Combined I spend about $80/mo on gas between my wife and I.

However, my wife doesn't have to goto work anymore.

I don't think so! I believe it is based upon a 12,000 mile a year allowance. Seems to me that is anything they suckered in a bunch of people with that as 12K in mileage per year is not all that much. If your new Dodge gets 30mpg, that is 400 gallons. Even if gas went to $5.00 in a year...that is only $800.00 per year which is about what they have most incentives foir rebates at anyway ($2500 +/- $500.00). I saw a commercial that Suzuki was doing the same thing.

My rebuttal was to V4C's statement of taking it as a fact that gas was going up.... You're correct on the figures but it is still based on a corporate prediction of gas levelling or going down...NOT going up... IF gas goes to $6 it will leave them with a huge obligation in long term rebates that, depending on the amount of people who sign up, could possibly bleed them dry. You also have to realize, the cars are still being sold at lower margins to move inventory...Trust me, it was not based on gas going up.

How about the recent increase in tank siphonings?

We just had two of our delivery trucks hit, one had the gas tank punctured and drained and the other was a straight siphon job.

I've been thinking about it man. But riding a bike on CA freeways scares the living shit out of me, and i've been riding since I was a wee lad.

Scary to think I could buy the bike, pay insurance, etc and still come out ahead of my monthly diesel expense.

My other gripe and blame is on/with the media. ATTENTION MEDIA: We don't need you to scare the fucking hell out of us every day with your gas alerts! We know the prices are high. Quit reporting it. Why are we in a "recession?" Because the media says so and you believe it. Why call it a recession. WHat is the need to make a new mother-fkng word for every level of the economy. One news story would have been sufficient: Gas is going up and the economy is not doing as well as previously. What is the point of reporting it every damn day causing stupid people, and eventually even smart people to panic.

I for one feel if the news stopped reporting on stocks, fuel prices, and the general economy the status quo would be a lot "better."

Constantly updating us on fuel prices and causing panic is = to this IMO: A patient has surgery in a few months to get his knee replaced. Every fucking day the DR. and his affiliates call you throughout the day to let you know that your surgery is going to be painful and that recovery might take a while. They told you this when you signed up. THen after you get the surgery they continue to tell you daily that rehabilitation is going to hurt....all you are thinking is: I KNOW YOU STUPID FUCK, I AM THE ONE DOING IT EVERY DAY. -----> Translation-----> I know gas is expensive you goddamn reporters. I will figure out if it went up when i fill up with gas you ignorant liberal.

Why spend your whole life worrying about things b4 they happen. If they happen, then worry. (and don't give me the "so you can be prepared excuse"....that is obvious and goes without saying)

I assume this is some kind of inside joke like the rest of your crackpot posts, but both my sets of grandparents lived in a farming community that I'm pretty sure would have hunted down and lynched anyone caught stealing ANYTHING.

I got this in an email a few days ago. I was about to delete it but it kinda of made sense. What do you think?

GAS PLAN

THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy gas on a certain day' campaign that was going around last April or May! It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!

I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action.

The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to 'hurt' ourselves by refusing to buy gas
.
It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.79 for regular unleaded in my town, Jacksonville.
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.
But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one),
EXXONMOBIL.
If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x
10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers .
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!
If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!

(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let' s face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am . so trust me on this one.

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people with in one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you?
Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

Even "if" everyone did that, it wouldn't work for the exact reason I posted this thread. As soon as they dropped the price 20 cents everyone would buy from them and they'd jack it right back up.

There is nothing "we" as consumers can do about gas prices. The government needs to step in and drill our own turf for oil.

I've been to LA a few times. They fly almost as fast as we do here in Orlando. The norm is 10-15mph over the limit.

Enjoy the ride...use the money you save to mod the Viper.

Oh yes, I buy gas at Costco....
