When I heard Nick speak about his injured friend in court, I had some sympathy. When I heard the jailhouse phone conversations between Nick and his parents....ugh. What were they thinking? They had to know all phone calls are recorded in a JAIL.
If you haven't heard them yet, go to CNN.com. You may be shocked.
Who cares? So Nick's a pussy and can't take his jail time...boohoo. His dad wants to make him feel better...his mom is obviously trash. The kid is in jail being punished for his mistakes and its harder for him then he thought it would be. I've never heard of anyone going to jail and saying it was easier then they thought it was going to be. If this is the worst thing they said over 26+ hours of recorded conversations, I don't see a major problem with Nick crying like a baby or his dad attempting to console him.....his mom needs help but thats another issue all together.

You must have missed the one where his Dad blames God/John on the accident. I'm paraphrasing, but basically went like - Hulk: "Wow. This kid (John) must have done some really bad things in his life for God to bring this on him...." Nick - "Yeah, he was really negative".
Seriously, that has to be one of the most pathetic comments I have EVER heard in my entire life. Pathetic is an understatement... ESPECIALLY considering the situation where Hulk allowed (or gave) his 17 year old son to drink alcohol, then have him the keys to a car. Now he's going to blame John's past history (ie - Karma) or God for his injuries? Crazy. F'ing crazy.
Here's my opinion: These comments speak volumes about who they REALLY are, and not how they want to be perceived. Perception is NOT reality, and this is a perfect example. All I'm saying is this -- Go and listen/read the conversation I referred to above, and you tell me BOTH are not worthless trash.
onerareviper, that's how I heard it. Blame God or karma? Nicks 'OK' from the accident so God saved him, but the other guy musta done some horrible things to deserve what he got? INSANE COMMENTS Kinda like the lady whose house doesn't have a scratch after a tornado and then goes on TV praising God for all her blessings, but seems to forget the family of five who died two houses down....
Also, we gota to make some MONEY off of this situation. Follow a celebrity after his jail time? Sad thing is, it will probably happen. What a world when you can become a celebrity by putting someone in a coma/vegetative condition for the rest of his life.
obviously I think nick is a complete douche, but I don't see how he can be held financially acctble when his passenger chose not to wear a seatbelt. not wearing a seatbelt as a passenger seems a lot like an unwritten liability waiver if you ask me
The show should have never hit the air. IMHO =, reality shows are for the mindless of the world who need to live their life drooling on the events of another 's world.

The only reality show I watch is The Beverly Hillbillies.

While I agree seatbelts are critical in protecting vehicle passengers, it does not remove the negligence on Nick's part. He was 1.) Speeding on wet roads 2.) Drag Racing 3.) Driving while intoxicated/DUI. Just because John was not wearing a seat belt does erase these facts nor negligence. The Hogan's are going to pay big time....

Well put....what alot of people don't realize is this is not the first time w/Nick Hogan. Living here in Tampa (Unfortunately) you kinda know his track record.
To continue "onerareviper's" facts : 4.) Wrecked his Supra awhile back on Gandy bridge while Drag Racing, lost control - no injuries. 5.) Pulled over on SR60 for 120 in a 55mph zone 6.) Pulled over on Alligator Alley for some insane stupid over the limit speed. 7.) Wrecked a Viper at a drifting event.
Another words : Through his parents he has had the ability to afford the cars but never the ability to drive the cars.
This last incident finally caught up w/him. The other kid should have been wearing his seatbelt, true..but the stupid stunt #500 caught up w/Nick. It was his watch.
If he can't take jail, good. Welcome to reality Nick, besides they're babying his ass and keeping him from general population.

Damn, that is a REALLY young looking Richard Dawson in the hogans hero's video clip........who knew he'd go on to such great heights as kissing trailer park trash women while hosting a game while shouting "survey says!"

I understand what you are saying but I still disagree. I do not believe it erased the fact that Nick was negligent. If you look up my posts here, not only do I not support Nick Hogan, I truly despise the guy and I don't even know him.
What I am saying is a major problem with our society is people not being held accountable for their actions. Yes you can relate this to Nick, but not directly. Nick is being held accountable for his and John's actions. Nick's actions were wreckless driving, etc. Johns actions were making a bad decision, one where he had the necessary information to make the correct one, but still chose wrong. There is a pattern of logic here that supports my reasoning:
1. Everyone knows Nick has fast cars, especially his friends
2. Everyone knows that according to his record he is a poor driver
3. With this knowledge, his friend's parents approved (seemingly) of the two hanging out
4. With this knowledge, and the assumption his parents approved, Nick's friend knowlingly got into the automobile, and CHOSE not to wear a seatbelt.
5. And then there is all that follows. Nick was negligent.
THis is not a commercial service. THis is not a business. There are no expectations of Nick when riding in his car. Actually, there are. There is an expectation to go racing and look cool. His friend chose that, and most likely due to his age, was too dumb to see the real risk involved. Even if he had worn his seatbelt he still made the decision to ride with someone who he knew was a reckless driver.
He played, and he got hurt. Arguing about Hogan's negligence, to me, is liking arguing that playground makers are negligent because they make playsets where kids can fall and get hurt. Yes, if a kid falls from 10 ft, he/she can and might be hurt. Does that mean that the playground company should be accountable? It was not a faulty system. The design was clear and there are no ifs ands or buts. Same goes for getting in the car with Nick. The nature of the situation was clear.
One more analogy. You go hang out with a friend at his house. This friend happens to be a drug dealer. You know he is a drug dealer, but you go anyways. A rival dealer happens to attack while you are there, and you are shot in the leg being left paralyzed from the waste down. This is analagous to the Hogan situation. SOme asshole attorney will argue that the drug dealing friend was negligent for dealing out of his house so he should be responsible for what happened to his friend. WRONG. You make choices and you are accountable for those choices. You ride witha drunk friend and you die, I agree it is a tragedy but ultimately it was your fault. No one forced you to ride.
The type of philosophy that wants to hold people accountable for other people's fuck ups is a major force dragging this country down, IMO. If I had to label the two things that have and will continue to destroy our country based on an "ipso fact relationship", they would be 1. The Media and 2. Lawyers.
THis is all about money. The only thing the Hogans owe that family is medical expenses. Why should his family profit because their son fucked up.
I think people need a little Reminder: LIFE IS NOT FAIR. IT IS NOT A FAIRYTALE. NO ONE OWES YOU YOUR LIFE. IT IS NO ONE"S RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP YOU A LIVE. YOU CAN GET HURT. YOU CAN DIE. IT IS REAL. LIFE IS REAL. TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS, and GROW UP!
P.S. THis is not directed towards anyone. Just venting about the way things are going these days
