Can someone explain this to me..I played this raffle.I spent 300 dollars. The car said it was new.Now by reading the article, it had 750 miles on it because the BIG BOYS decided to use it before they gave it away. Why would the winner pay for a car that has been used as new and pay up all the tax on it instead of it being registered as being used. The idiots at Dodge gave the car as NEW..It's not new.It was USED..

It was considered new since it was never registered, a better description during the raffle, a low mileage demo. Today since its been registered it's used.

Must be nice to actually win something worth some value. I have never won anything in a drawing that I can actually remember.

Smart move if you ask me.

- Id do the same thing this guy is doing.

Let some collector pay big bucks to let it sit in his garage.

Put the "250k" in a high interest account and let it pay your monthly for another ACR.

I don't think that the guy realizes that if he were to spend 135k on some dolphins painted on the hood, the car would have been sold by now.

Drive it through a fucking flood, Bonkers would buy it.

I gave away a 2007 hayabusa at my track last year. I offered a cash prize in place of. To take the back, legally I had to collect the taxes before they could take it. The guy that won took the cash, in which taxes were taken out instantly.

I understand the state and fed taxes (although I think it's bullshit). But wouldn't you atleast get a break on the sales tax since you won it? Seems at worst they would charge you sales tax on what you bought the ticket for. Seems there should be a diff beween buying and winning when it somes to the sale price. Would only change the figure by about 6-7k but would make a diff non the less.

Not sure how it works in other states, but in CA, the tax is the same on new or used. It is all determined by value.

As far as him selling it, I have no problem with that. He paid the freight on his tickets and won. Hopefully someone will enjoy the car.

Wow! Cool car to win.. The last time I ever won something.. Was back in 1976 when I was only ten years old. "Burger chef" raffled off a 1976 plymouth volare road runner. GO CART! I was the coolest kid on the block!
here's a picture of what the go cart was based on.

How did you know the guy's income tax bracket?

From what I recall, in NC there was a set rule for what you would take out. I was just informed of that process and honestly it was about 8 months ago. I was told there was a certain amount of with holding that had to take place in order for them to claim their prize. It was a big pain in the ass and I decided I would never give away such a thing again.
