The Alamo

The Alamo...March 6, 1836.

On that fateful day, Davy Crockett woke up and walked from his bunk on
the floor of the Alamo up to the observation post on the west wall.

Col. William B. Travis and Jim Bowie were up there already.

As the three gazed at the hordes of Mexicans moving steadily towards
them, Davy turned to Bowie with a puzzled look on his face and asked,

"Jim ... Are we landscaping today?"

They're reclaiming Texas, without firing a shot. What do you call two Mexicans in a shoebox? A pair of loafers.

My great grandfather was a mexican chewing gum specialist for Santa Anna *(During his(Santa Anna) time in New York City he is credited as bringing the first shipments of chicle, the base of chewing gum, to the United States, but he failed to profit from this, since his plan was to use the chicle to replace rubber in carriage tires, which was tried without success. The American assigned to aid Santa Anna while he was in the United States, Thomas Adams, conducted experiments with the chicle and called it "Chiclets,") and he often told my dad about the attack at the Alamo and that Anna just wanted to open up a little bed and breakfast in that area and actually had no idea that the place was already leased. True story...well....kinda true. Sorta.

*Googled for correct historical significance.

Technically they had no system of ownership... How's that for a loophole?

I love Texas and being a Texan. Wouldn't have it any other way.

It's dead.
For 'supposedly' being a happening bar, there's nobody there.
We'll be here tonight, maybe it'll be different.
