What credit card do you use?

I'm at the point of charging around 10-20k a month for various business stuff on my credit card. I'm just getting around to shop the best deal. I pay off my balance every month. My current card is a chase reward card.

YUP, for sure get a credit card that pays you back with air miles.

Ours is an Alaska Airlines Visa, they give you a $75 companion fare once a year too, so you can buy one full price ticket and fly a second person anywhere Alaska Airlines flies for only $75..........pretty good deal with some tickets costing $500-600 plus.

And you still get the airline miles too...........I figure we get about a free trip a year as well as the companion fare (which is also transferable, we just gave the $75 companion fare to my Mom for mothers day!)

I've got a Chase card, not sure the name, but I get 1% on everything and 3-5% for home improvement stores, restaurants, office and computer stores, gas. Also, you can shop online at hundreds of retailers (like target, wal-mart, and other large as well as small outlets) and get up to 20% cash back. No limit on rewards and no tiered earning system (such as 0.25% for the first $10k spent, 0.5% for the next $10K, etc).

I like cash back better as it is a set rate, you never know what kind of stipulations they'll put on airline mileage rewards. Just casual spending last year net'd me over $2000 cash back.

My business uses similar cards, and we get nearly $300 cash back a month on those.

Zen, my only concern in doing that would be. What happens if American goes out of biz, or (more likely) merges?? I think when all the dust settles, were going to be left with about 3 airlines, as a result of mergers. Will your "points" be safe?

I charge a significant amount monthly, and use an Advanta Platinum card.. Its real simple. I get 5% cash back, mailed directly to me every qtr.. No tracking points, etc,etc.. I just dont trust them.

But hey, to each their own.. I'm just not motivated enough to deal with the whole points thing..

I have 3 that I use on a regualr basis.

Citibusiness - about $20K a month - uses thank you network
Costco AMEX - about $20K a month - cash back
Capital One - about $10K a month - don't know, haven't used any rewards yet.

I am thinking about getting the Southwest card for both my wife and myself, and then qualifying for a companion pass on both. then I should be able to fly my wife and 2 daughters around for $5 each.

I'm in the same boat looking for a card, as I just gave my AMEX Black the boot, and now I'm about ready to give my AMEX Blue the boot as well. Nobody wants to take AMEX anymore, and they suck at trying to help you on some matters/problems.

I'm thinking either Citibank or Capital One VISA or Mastercard is the way to go and accepted everywhere. If you pay your card off monthly then get one with some sort of benefits although the APR is at least 3 to 5 points higher, if you don't pay it off monthly then get one with the lowest consistant APR.
