I am a 39 year old PC gamer going on 12 and anyhow I have not had a console system since Nintendo. I can go with a used system and anyhow it is just for my girfriend and I to play with when we are free. We only play our PC games now, but looking for a change pf pace. We can spend $1,000 or the like, but I am a cheap-o and looking for bang for the buck really. The driving game or RTS like Age of Empires and the like are all kewl. I am not into first person shooter games, but anyhow thanks in advance. I am killer into PC hardware and gaming on PC's, but this is a new field for me. Gary

PS3 is nice because it comes with a blue ray. I have ps3 and 360. I like the 360 better but bang for the buck goes to the ps3. 360 has more games for now but ps3 has better future graphics possibilities. I also like the steering wheel sets they have for 360. Its just a better gaming system. I think my biggest complaint about the ps3 is the ergonomics of the controls. They are sloppy and hard to use.
Thanks V10 for the post! So the 360 is better if I was going to just keep it? I am cheap in a lot of ways, but I would rather spend a few bucks up front now to get a better system. So I guess the old PS2 and X-Box units are just lame I suppose? We don't even own a 1080 TV, only a 720 or whatever it is and an old 480 :-) I sell computers and build custom PC gaming boxes, but a lot of my house is low tech to be frank. Thanks for the input again. Gary
They are all good really. I like PS3 because of the bluray. Wii has some neat stuff going on if you can get a hold of one and xbox 360 has great games. For me, having bluray was enough for me to go with it.

The PS3 has a better selection of wheels. The Logitech wheels are what most people use. Unfortunately they do not work on the 360.
Since you said you are cheap, look on ebay for someone selling the system you want with a bunch of games. I just do a search and only bid on the ones that are local. Heck, half the time its a high school or college kid attempting to raise some cash and they will bring it to my office the same day.
For gaming, get the 360 or the Wii. For a nice BR player and some gaming, the PS3. If the PS3 did not play BR movies, it would be considered a failure.

Pretty true, but I think a lot of people would argue the graphics capabilities. So far, they haven't done anything revolutionary and on dual releases, the PS3 version is worse 9 times out of 10.
I have all the current systems. I play the 360 99% of the time. I even got some old systems like the first Nintendo with over 100 games, and a couple Phillips CDi consoles with almost every game. Hell, I have a real arcade in my backyard with 20 or so stand up video games. I'm truly a kid.

Damn, for that I might become gay and try and marry you! WTF 20 stand up video games? I mean screw the $2.9 million in the bank, impressive and all, the 3 Lambos and 2 TT Vipers are kewl too, but the 20 video games is just UBER kewl! If one of them is Missle Command or Wizards of War, I am over the edge-lol.
Since I do not watch movies the BR does not seem important to me. From this thread it is really looking to be the 360 or a used console with a lot of games if I can get it on the cheap. I love my PC games and my girl and I have killer wicked fast machines, great monitors and such but we need a change of pace and my offer of inviting some hot busty 18 year olds to break it up didn't fly , so gaming consoles here I come.
Thanks guys and I will post what one I get which will hopefully be today. Gary

Reason: Typing without enough coffee
I have the 360 in my basement playroom. I have it set up with a High Def 42" flatscreen and 600W of surround sound. Driving games freakin rock on 360.
Need for Speed Most Wanted is probably the one I enjoy most. You are going to pay around $50-$60 for the decent games. Some shops deal in them used for $30 to $40.
I have a 360 and love it. My lil' bro has a PS3. The graphics are a tad better for PS3, but the main thing that makes me want one is the BR Player. It looks a million times better than a regualar DVD. I'm not big into gaming. I only get 2-3 games a year, but I would recommend the PS3.
Plus its gay how you have to pay for online gaming with Xbox, and ONLINE GAMING is far more fun than the regular game.
Whatever system you buy, CALL OF DUTY 4 and GRAND THEFT AUTO 4 are the games to get.
PS2 - working
Xbox - working
PS3 - broke!
Xbox 360 - broke!

I still have my PS1 but don't play it much. I've just been so busy over the years never really got back into gaming, I like the PC games like Ghost Recon etc though. Also anybody know where to get old NES parts like wires? I found my old NES from like what, over 20 years ago?, but one of the wires was torn out the back, I didn't even know still had it packed up untill I opened a box one day.

After the wire is fixed I bet the damn NES will fire right up. Seems like they're not making them like they used too. Props to Sony though, they've sent me a replacement PS3 till mine is either repaired or they'll resend me a new one.
Gotta get the damn XBOX360 wkng too since I have all the HALO series.
Okay guys, I am sold on the 360, but what type of 360 do I buy? There seems to be the arcade, premium and some other thing. Does the arcade one have games the other ones do not have? Or do the higher prices ones have the arcade games plus extra storage? I sound like people asking PC questions to me probably-lol. I want the Grand Theft Auto and the car racing ones, plus Command and Conquer if possible. Can I just pull the HDD and upgrade it to a regular SATA or IDE HDD or is there some programs and or data on it from the factroy? I just want to buy it once and do it right. TY
