What beautiful dogs, Ron. We had German Shepherds growing up and they're awesome dogs. My mom always insisted on females though because she believed the males got mean when they got old. Probably an old wives tale but that's what she thought. They were incredible animals and part of the family. Thank you for posting the pics.

Guarantees mean nothing, did both parents have their OFA papers? Did you check the linage back at least 4 generations and make sure there is no mixed breeding? It's not a guarantee he won't have hip problems, but it's all you can do. Cutter got his OFA exam just after his 2nd B-day and got 98%. How old is your GSD, and what's his name? Hip problems at one, wow that's not right. I don't blame you for blaming the breeder, he should be picking up the bills. Most breeders (I know mine did) give a 2 year hip guarantee in writing.

The vet saying it's the worst case he's ever seen, doesn't help me feel any better either.
