I fired my worthless pool cleaner finally after 7 months of not cleaning the pool. I call every pool cleaner in town and they wont even return my call. One does and ends up being a no show twice!!!
Ive tried doing it myself and it didnt work out to well. Any pointers?? Any of those automatic cleaners work?

how bad is it? just green or is it full of shit? is it a sand fliter? if so, you have to flush it out till the water running out of the filter / pump runs clear. then look up something along the lines of "pool shock" its a strong clorine powder... dont swim for a few days. it will burn your eyes but it kills all the algee and the water will be clear again. if its just leaves in it, they use a long poll, with a hose on the end hooked up into the filter inlet to suck the stuff out of it and sweep / scrub the sides of the pool to get any stuck of stuff.
Also always keep in mind, if you see kids swimming in it for 6 hours straight without getting out to piss, you can be rest assured where they are doing it!
You take a sample of the pool water to a pool place and they will test it and give you a print out of exactly what chemicals and how much are needed to treat the pool.
I love my pool, but it takes work to keep it clean and crystal clear. I have a "Baracuda" cleaning system which I highly recommend! Works great! I also went to a salt water system, and that takes a lot of headaches out of the ordeal, and no more green hair for the blondies, and it doesn't hurt the eyes at all......very good way to go. Good luck, and take the water in to be tested, just as previously stated.....then keep up with it and it will be fun and very worthwhile!!!
ummmm........ aren't you in Texas? We usually just toss some ol' Catfish in there and wait a few days. Then grab a pole and open some Busch Beer. I don't see what your problem is?
my pool company opens and closes my pool. nothing else. three clorine tablets weekly or every five days if its really hot and the water is crystal clear. the day before big parties i always drop a bag or two of shock in which really wakes it up.
an electric cover helps too
