Mike Tyson is an idiot for blowing all the money he had. He's going to end up like the Milli Vanilli guys, MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Axl Rose and the other "wannabees" who had it made, and blew everything they had. The difference is a singer can make a living doing small shows into their 50's or even 60's but a boxer is all done after he can't win anymore.
Tyson MAYBE has a few fights left in him. He could possibly make $10MM per fight - he needs to seriously invest that money - like NOW. He's on the road to ruin.

Yes, there was something in the paper about a year ago or so that showed some of his reported expenses, and it was pretty entertaining.
I can't recall exact figures but some stuff was just off the wall, things like gardening expenses, shoes, 'spending money' (I assume for going out to bars and stuff like that. Just crazy, and definitely the resume of someone destined for bankruptcy.
He came from no money, he made money way too quick and he had a bunch of yes men/women around him which made him think he could do anything and get away with it. I think reality is just catching up with Mike.
I think he was a brilliant boxer, i think he had a psyche which was optimal for boxing, agressive and yet willing to undertake the training required to be as tough as he needed to be. But... I also bet he didn't have too many people around him that could keep tab on some of the excesses that the quick money can lure people from poorer backgrounds into.
Compare Tyson to Carl Lewis who was the biggest sprinter in the world right about the same time and who also made some serious money. Carl was surrounded by advisers who kept him away from some of the worst excesses and Carl seems to have a beginning of an alternate career after track and field (i just saw him in a movie and his acting skills are hmm... decent).
What i'm trying to say is that i think that Mike got screwed by the people he was surrounded by. Sure, he has to take responsibility for his own actions but i still believe that he had too many bad people hanging around and influencing him.

Par, that's not a bad take . Where I feel Tyson got stupid was when he fired Kevin Rooney as his trainer and he dumped Bob (can't remember his last name) as his promoter. From that point on it was all downhill. Until the Buster Douglas fight, Tyson was invincible. With inadequate training and no help with his financial and social agenda, he started what is certain to be an unrecoverable tail spin. Too bad too because up until that point and knowing what Tyson's background was, you had to appreciate what Mike had become with the help of Cus Demato and Kevin Rooney.
Still, he was a dummard for dumping those guys in the first place and even more of a dummard for not re-hiring them.
