I support the second amendment, and also support the sign at my local convenience store (Florida) regarding firearm laws.

Pull a gun in comission of a crime - mandatory 5 years
Fire a gun in comission of a crime - mandatory 10 years
Shoot someone in comission of a crime - mandatory 20 years

I'm against the mandatory gun sentencing laws. Many is the time when a citizen though he was doing good, using a gun for what a rational person would think was a good thing, only to run afoul of a zealous prosecuter out to teach someone a lesson.

Every crime, every transgression of the law, should be viewed on its own tableau.

Mandatory sentencing sucks.
