My town here in NJ is really small, and seeing as I have a Mini that's pretty loud combined with "a heavier foot than most", I've gotten the police called on me a couple times, at least I suspect.
One time there was a woman who was splitting a 2 lane road going 30 in a 40. This was annoying, but I knew eventually the road boiled down to one lane and further boiled down to a dotted yellow line so I could pass her.
Needless to say, I absolutely do; double clutch into third and just rip it past her..only to notice a work van pulling out in front of me up ahead.
Now, in these kinds of situations, the appropriate thing would be to brake and just chill behind the guy. However, since I have been accelerating since passing the old lady due to me being aggravated, I do some quick physics and realize it's a legitimate danger for me to rear end him. So, I keep going, the road still being double yellow and I jussssst make it past him. I slow down to about 5 over, and he starts tailgating me and beeping his horn.
So, I make a right, duck down some side streets and take an alternate way to work. On my way, I get to a T intersection; the road goes straight and I'm only able to go right. Down that road, it's a different police force that patrols the town. As I'm coming to the light, I head down the right turn off, almost like an exit ramp with a yield. I do everything properly, and I see the cop make a vicious left coming from the other direction. At this point I'm doing the speed limit, and he is RIDING me. All over my ass.
So, at this point I panic. I make a left down a side street, and the cop KEEPS following me. My radar isn't going off, I'm doing 25, I have done nothing wrong. Still, the asshole keeps riding me looking for a reason to pull me over. He follows me all the way to work, watches me get out of my car, and just drives away. No stop, nothing.
Since then though, I get followed by cops A LOT more than I ever did, so I can't help but wonder. I guess that day I got lucky.
cop or not if you tailgate me for any extended distance your definatly getting a brake check. If your getting tailgated by a "peace" officer pull over get his cars number and report him to his superiors. 90% of these assholes let that badge power go right to there fucking head.
Of the countless stops and citations I have recieved over the years, I am reminded of the time in high school my buddy and I were cruising my Trans Am (yeah I was badass right?) lol, and I proceeded to roast the tires for a block or so leaving a circle K in front of a bunch of peers in a parking lot. No sooner than the tires hooked and I let off, blue and red lights flash behind me and I pull over...
Female officer: "That was dumb, I was right behind you... Care to entertain me with a good excuse for that little show?"
Me (young, dumb and cocky): "Uhhh yes ma'am... Actually smoke always comes off my tires. I cant help it, and my good friend here and I are trying to troubleshoot it. Theres no excuse..."
Female officer (chuckling now): "Very clever, Ive never heard that one before."
I ended up with a verbal warning after she ran my name and insurance, she told me to be safe, and that was that.
I do everything properly, and I see the cop make a vicious left coming from the other direction. At this point I'm doing the speed limit, and he is RIDING me. All over my ass.
.
Next time those fucksticks start on your ass, slow down just enough to bring them closer and lock the brakes up! Make sure it's not a car you really care to keep. After he slams you in the assend, explain you had to stop quickly for the kitten that just ran across your path, then ask "why the fuck you were following so close and where is your supervisor?"
Fuck'em twoways to Sunday with a complaint and a lawyer! Whiplash is a bitch to get over

FYI...As long as you don't leave rubber strips and are going more than 20mph over the limit there is not much they can do. Officers are tested on being able to watch a car and tell the speed it is traveling, citizens are not, so how can they tell your speed accuratly. also revving your engine, sorry I thought it was in gear and when I stepped on the gas turns out it wasn't. there are your excuses.
also when an officer is tailgating you there is not much you can do, if you want him to rearend you then let him(remember its not his car and you pay the taxes). ask to see his supervisor, and when his supervisor tells you that he is going to punish him rest assured it is a lie to you and that most likley nothing will happen. just the facts, most of them don't care about what we do or even how we drive. but if you lie to a cop and they know you are you are going down. but yep citizens can only complain other than that not much else is going to happen

yup. next door neighbor called the cops on me.
i had just driving from Virginia to Minnesota in 22 hours. i picked this girl up and then drove over to my house. pull car into garage. 10min later cops come to the house stating i have been doing burnouts and such and the person that called (neighbor down street) stated i had been doing them for a while now... cops asked to see car, i told them no. showed them leave papers (time of departure was less then 24hours..) he got the "father to son" tone with me. i closed the door. he left. end of that story.
nothing but jelous assholes. Had this happen to me when I was driving the new Viper back from Va. In Arkansas a cop was standing under a freeway overpass hiding behind the pillar with a radar gun. clocked me at 83 in a 70. Said he had multiple calls about me blowing past people like they were standing still. Threatened to take me to jail and all kinds of bullshit. Soon as he saw the California drivers license it was over. The bullshit part was half the day it was pouring down rain and i was going under the speed limit, and the other half the day when it was clear out i was still getting passed by toothless oakie fucks.
Yeah, I had a cop pull me over not too long ago and came up to me screaming at me saying I was fuckign with the wrong person. His partner pulled a gun on me and I got yelled at for over 20 minutes. A big ass crowd gathered around watching the asshat yell at me. He said I had peeled out, was driving wrecklessly, and had six other counts he could give me. In reality, I had taken a right turn onto a street, drove maybe 30 yards and parked. I didn't even touch the gas when I pulled out, just let out the clutch. He cop said all I had to do was admit to everything that he said I did and he would let me off. It was bullshit so I said I could lie if it would make him feel better or I could continue to tell the truth which was I didn't even hit 20 mph. After a while the cop let me go but as he was walking back to his car, he spotted a sticker in my rear window saying I had donated money to the cops. He then started another yelling fit about how I think I can prance around and buy my way out of a ticket. Once the cop let me go, he smoked his tires and did an illegal U-turn across a double yellow line. I guess when you realize you are an insignificant ass who will never live up to the dreams you had as a child, abusing your pittance of power makes you feel better for a moment.

1) It's reckless driving, not wreckless. Wreckless means you are not in a wreck.
2) I am on your side regarding people calling in, it's stupid and it's happend to me. But you have to be high off your ass if you are going to come in here and talk about your 680whp and then have the nerve to say that NOT ONCE have you ever rodded the piss out of it on a public street. Who are you kidding? You have 680whp so you can accelerate slightly faster than normal traffic? Either you are lying out of your ass or I feel sorry for you for not driving your car like a real man.
Milan, thanks for the reality check (and the spell check, lol). As my post states, I have never driven wrecklessly (recklessly) in traffic. Not to say I haven't tested the HP on a track, public street or in an isolated area--but have NOT ONCE "rodded the piss out of it" AROUND TRAFFIC enough to draw a negative phone call.
Thanks for the numerous responses and shared experiences. I see I'm not alone. The question now is, how/can one get this derogatory info off their record? By a lawyer, the Freedom of Info Act, or just changing license plates? Because we all know if we get stopped again for a minor traffiic violation, they're going to eventually hang us based on what's been (falsely) reported.
-but have NOT ONCE "rodded the piss out of it" AROUND TRAFFIC enough to draw a negative phone call.
See this is where it gets tricky. If you have a somewhat loud exhaust, 80% of the people (especially older ones) think you are driving WAY faster than you actually are.
In my Z06 I can accelerate slower than normal traffic and because of my exhaust it sounds like I am waking the dead which people interpret as me going 100mph.
So I guess in conclusion: people are stupid and love to complain.
I've had the cops at my house 15-20 times in the last 5 years at my current residence.
Every time it stems from the same two neighboors. The last time those cock suckers called the police because I "disturbed the peace". I had literally only started the car to pull it off the trailer and drive it into the garage. The entire ordeal was less then 30 seconds. The cops can't do anything and it wastes their time too.
A couple of years ago this was a daily happening, when I daily drove the car and after a couple of weeks of this shit the police pressed charges for improper use of 911 services on the guy... he had left me alone since then, until two weekends ago when the trailer episode occured.
Its a pain in the ass. I need to move.
