I felt it, I'm in St. Louis... about 120 miles away from the epicenter. It woke me up and shook the house for about 15 seconds or so. There's just some minor damage around here, a bridge had some pieces of concrete fall off.
I slept through it (you could have target practice in my room and I would sleep through it). However, everyone at school was talking about it. I will have to go home and see if anything fell off where it was sitting.
I started my car in Dallas at about 4 AM, I think you all were just finally getting the sound waves at 4:37. 3" Exhaust with headers really shakes things...
Maybe IL will now be like MN and raise taxes since obviously every bridge in IL needs to be examined and possibly replaced... And if you are really lucky - they'll propose a highway useage fee, based on the # of miles you drive, to apply the appropriate fee to you... Ya know - since 50% is not enough...
On a side note - I think I read some fact the other year - that the only state in the US that does not experience earthquakes is Florida...
I recently watched a Nat'l Geo documentary about the Yellowstone Caldera. I remember thinking "Haysus ... I hope this never happens in the lifetime of me or my children".
Now Illinois is having earthquakes. The end is nigh! Verily!
I slept right through it. My dogs would have gone nuts if it would have done anything worth speaking about. I am only 200 miles from where it was centered. I don't know if it should have shaken us here but if it did it was very little.
I experienced my only earthquake back in April or May of 1999. I was in a hotel room in the Philippines with 3 girls when one of them noticed the room moving a bit.. (seriously)
