I just came back from the gym, and my knees are friggin shakeing. They feel funny.
I got the balls to hit a much higher than usual max on the press, and I think I might have gotten a little to close to the edge of screwing something up.
tell me about it.
I'm finally climbin' my pyramid again.
It's been nearly four years since I hit my max weight.
Since then, it's been hip flexor this or a.c.l. that
My favorite birthday of all time. July 2000. New Job,New City. .. no friends (yet). After working all day I go to the gym. Doing a 400 lb squat (not press) for reps, not really heavy at the time. and I come to the top of a rep and hear "ping". Yep, my right hip flexor snaps and rolls down into my thigh. It didn't actually hurt at the time, but I knew I was fucked. Racked the weight and screamed for "ICE". Of course, the fucking gym had no ice available. So I'm 15 minutes from home and hop in the car to hurry and get it iced; that is SO important within minutes after an injury. No shit, a chemical factory exploded next to the interstate that day and all lanes were shut down. It took me an hour on side streets to make it 10 miles My thigh was throbbing in the car. The sad story ends with me sitting on my couch, somewhat alone, swolen leg wrapped in ice, hangin' out with my buddy Jim Beam until he tucked me in for the night.
Needless to say, I make a point not to squat heavy on my birthday anymore
Leg press and squats can be EXTREMELY bad for your knees if you arent careful. You need to be very careful wtih foot placement and body geometry when you lower hte weight so that your knees dont take a huge load. Try to get the weight to go to your feet by kicking your feet forwards so that your shins are as parallel as possible with your upper body...This helps keep you from loading up your knees. If your knees still hurt get yourself a trainer and maybe they can tell you wants wrong or go see the doctor!
I'm 6'5" tall and 330 pounds. I continuously build my strength by just being me. I don't need a gym to work out - all I need to do is move me around. I'm not going to gain weight just to squat press anymore than the 330 pounds I weigh now, though. I just do plenty of reps and build my strength.
Have you ever thought of gaining some real weight so your everyday movements help keep you in shape?

Now THERE'S a thought.
I'm 6'-2" @ 175. Guess I should gain some weight?
That's right. Go up to 250 pounds and you will soon have the strongest legs - even strong enough to drive your Viper in heavy stop & go traffic and not have your left (clutch) leg get tired at all.
I'm heavy. I don't look it, but I really am. I have a bit of a gut still, but not really "fat" anywhere elese. I used to astonish people with how much I actually weighed.
I've lost a good bit of weight but still look about the same
If I weighed 170, i'd be borderline dead I think my skeleton weighs atleast 140lbs
