Why nails? They will pull within a few seasonal changes. SS screw are the only way to go, IMO. However, it looks like a fun project, good luck on the sanding.

Ron, make sure you get him those little sanding drums that Ralph Macchio used in the Karate Kid.
Ah Daniel son, you go right a circle, left a circle, breath in, breath out.

BTW: Here's a pic of the "nearly finished" deck...
I'm awaiting some tiffany lights to place on the short columns...

BTW: I even forgot what the deck looked like so I attached a "before" pic as well...

Looks cozy. My wife's been after me to build a deck for years. I may cave in once I get my tire melter back together.

BTW: That's exactly what I used to sand the deck boards...
A 3X21 Belt Sander, a 5" Random Orbital Sander and a little "Mouse" Sander...
I wore out a set of knee pads and it literally took me weeks to sand - NEVER AGAIN!!

HA! I forgot all about those jets that shoot out like piss to cool the water down. I had those on the pool at my first house and Woofus would be out there for hours snapping at the water shooting up in the air.

Deck I built at my old house in Ohio-
Designed it on CAD, built like a brick shithouse.
