I hear ya. But a private biz could have offered the photo and the cops could have taken it to NASA. It is probably a routine way of doing things.

Facts are facts. There's no 'pandering to stereotypes' when statistics prove that black men commit more random homicides per year than any other race. It's as non-racist a statement as the fact that more white men commit serial murders than any other race. Both of them are self-evident truths.

A disproportionate ratio you mean. I am not sure black men commit more random homicides but I am certain they commit more in proportion their population numbers.
I am also not so certain the reverse is true regarding whites and serial murders. A google search on black serial murderers return quite a lot.
Interesting statistics - us white folk kill less for a felony motive, but more for sex. Less for drugs, more due to gangs. Less for arguments, but more int he workplace.
We kill alone, but more often take out more than one victim.
And more often than not - it's someone we have a relationship with.
Any way you look at these killings on campuses - it's chilling. I am not that far from Chapel Hill - and this is something that town would have never thought could happen there. A senseless random act.
You can't be too careful - and as much as you'd like to think that you could drive around at the wee hours of the morning - alone - and go to your office - it's not wise to do these days - no matter where you are. I am not even sure had she been carrying, if it would have helped her.
I don't like driving alone WAY late - usually it's just for an airport run and the path is pretty well deserted. I sometimes just take the truck because i figure it's just not a target for someone to carjack - because you can easily tell it's a stick. My car concerns me more.
