Ive had it planned for a few weeks to get a Pug for my daughter. She has no idea about getting the dog yet, its going to be a surprise. Wife and I told her its a weekend `meeting.` As far as she knows we are hanging out at the galleria and eating out and ice skating, yada yada... Much more to come on the dog later; my question is what are some good things to do now at the mall? Is the ice skating place still there? Whats good eats around? Its been awhile since I have been over that way. Fill me in fellas. Keep my wife and daughter in mind! Anyone gonna be around for a steak?

We still have the ice skating rink. It's huge. Not sure how old your daughter is but there's a pretty big Build a Bear store. Tons of toy stores. Every designer store you can think of. Tons of stuff to do at the Galleria. Great restaurants as well. I'd try Grille 5115 by Ruggles at Saks Fifth Ave. Very good food. Movie theatre. Can't go wrong.
Pappas is the best steak for sure. What other kind of food do you like?
Ill eat almost anything. The girls, however, are pretty picky so we usually stick to steak houses. My daughter is 9 and I think she's a little played out on the build a bear thing. I suppose we will walk around and see what there is to see. I havent been down there in a while.
I guess I am going to have to ice skate... I was hoping that thing wasnt there anymore...
Why are you getting a Pug when you could get her a sugar glider or ferret? Why would you want a cute dog when you could get a smelly, biting, flying rat? I don't understand, what kind of parent are you? For shame, I may call CPS on you for this outrage. Where is the love for the sugar gliders?
When are you going to be at the Galleria, I will come and get some video of you skating.
Papas Steakhouse is good, but there are better places for steak... Believe it or not, Papadeaux on Richmond has great filets, Vick & Anthony's by the ball park has great steaks, Truluck's off of Westheimer has great food all around, delicious stone crab and lobsters..... There is also Flemming's or Del Fresco, Del Fresco being in the Galleria, but I think both are a little over rated...however, if you like kobe beef, del fresco has a 20 or 22 ounce kobe steak for $100.
AVOID: The Strip House; it is rated very highly among the socialite terds of Houston, but they know nothing about good food . The strip house was the biggest dissapointment for me in a long time.
Perry's steakhouse used to, IMO, have the best steak in town (I would get the 40 oz porterhouse for two, and eat it yourself), but they kind of fell of a year or two ago and they are very inconsistent.
That is my quick breakdown for steak eats in Houston. Hope it helps...
I consider myself to be somewhat of a steak connoisseur

As far as the galleria goes, depending on how long it has been since you were last here, they added on another wing, and there is more ghetto courtesy of Katrina and illegal immigration

Im living near the New Orleans area, so Im somewhat used to the ghetto trash, lol. I used to eat at the Papadeaux now and then out in Phoenix, but usually more for the seafood. Thanks for the suggestions, I am keeping them ALL in mind.
How can a Papadeaux steak be better than Pappas when they are owned by the same family? Wouldn't they use the same source? Who eats steak at a Cajun seafood place?
