You don't trust the Innovative? They are damned accurate. They test less than +/- .1 of true A/F. The dynojet is worse than +/- .75. I don't know about the HKS, but I doubt its better than the Innovative.

ah i just meant i dont trust it when someone is rigging it up with the dynojet stack... as a standalone unit i hear good reviews and havent had any negative experiences. check my edit on the last post, i added something you might think is cool about the HKS.

Ok...I can certainly understand that. I have listened to a knock sensor...very interesting perspective on engine tuning. I really like the new engine management stuff (well SAAB has had it for a while) you see in OEMs with the spark ionization technology which acts like a knock sensor/wideband/EGT in every cylinder.

Lot's of shit to figure out with the DynoJet chart, but I'm teaching myself over here just screwing with stuff.
Looks like I got 462RWHP and 497RWTQ in the STD setting, and 452RWHP and 486RWTQ in the SAE setting.
Lord only knows which one is the correct one to use and what the hell either of them mean

ok i always host my files but i just tried using the attachment thing here... i attached a SAE and a STD graph of both your runs. your max values are shown.

closed loop ignition timing FTW... thats where we are headed and in 10 years tuners will only need to be builders.

What do you think of the A/F ratio on those?

mike... basically your car actually laid down a few less HP than what is shown. a correction factor such as SAE is intended to compensate for atmospheric conditions that could steal power or add power, and try to level the playing field for the sake of comparison. So if you dyno on a freezing cold day, your car is gonna make more power UNCORRECTED but the correction factor is going to try its best to determine what your car would make on an average day. same as if its very hot out... your car will make less, and the correction will bump up your power to try and determine what it would be in the conditions that are its baseline. I cannot remember the baseline conditions, but you could easily look them up and see what the different correction factors are trying to change your readings into.

hard to say... like i said i have reasonable cause to believe that the wideband readings from your session could be inaccurate. if your not pinging, your probably fine. you could always add an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to the car if you wanted a little bit of tweak-ability to your overall A/F curve to see where your engine likes to run... but thats not a drop in mod since the car has a returnless fuel system.

I got ya, but in turn I'd think that by the DynoJet trying to compensate for this I wonder if it understands that the A/F can be affected by the current climate conditions as well? Or I could be wrong in thinking that
I'm sure altitude plays a part somewhere in here as well, but I believe I had seen somewhere in there that the guy put that at 1,350'
The 91 octane I put in probably makes for shittier readings as well. I wonder what would happen if I threw a half and half mix of 100 and 91 in the tank?

the dyno doesnt care why the A/F is what it is, it just displays what its sensor is picking up but it doesnt use the information for anything other than to show you the readings... it doesnt apply to the actual power readings in anyway. if you dynoed on a day that was very different in temp/humidity and the car ran different, your cars power output would change and the dyno would translate it accordingly, just the same.

altitude plays a huge part, but the dynojet software doesnt care about altitude. you can set it to the moon and it wont change anything, i dont even know why they have that setting in there... i even asked once and the dynojet rep told me it has no effect on anything.

if you thru in some higher octane gas its very possible that your PCM would eventually try adding in a little timing. I am not extremely familiar with viper PCM trivia... i dont know how aggressive it is. I know that my Z (on stock ECU) has an extremely aggressive knock feedback system and it will constantly try and add more timing and then back it off under ping. its more than likely that if you ran a few tanks of higher octane that the PCM would eventually throw in a little more timing (but you would need to ask someone in "the know" about the viper PCM), and you might see a couple ponies from that... but if you dont run the car on the gas all the time, whats the point.. ya know.

I heard that either the 97 or 98 was the last year for no knock sensors
