So I just got my February Road & Track magazine in the mail today. Of course it starts off with an article about how great the original ZR-1 was (NOT). Then it talks about the new ZR1. In the new ZR1 article, it has a section that has quotes from famous people (Shelby, Leno, Andretti, and "yes, you are in there Hennessey") about the Corvette. Here is my quote "It was ugly back in 1989 and its still damn ugly now". Oh yea, I love the Hot Wheels hood!!
The ZR-1 does have performance no doubt; however, to be special car, it also must have the looks. GM has failed the public once again.

How different was the ZL-1 in looks? Personally, I would prefer a car to stand out a little more but that is me. To say that Chevy failed is sour grapes. It sounds like they made a hell of a car.
I guess you like to eat sour grapes, again the car is a failure.

From the sounds of it, the car performs great. The ZO6 got a fire lit under dodge's ass to come out with 600 hp. Perhaps the ZR-1 will get dodge to pull another trick out of it's sleeve. In the end, it's great for us.

I like cars, not just dodges.
Only time will tell what will happen to the Viper. With all the rumors around, who knows what the future holds for the Viper. I have nothing against GM, its just that in order to be a car "Legend", you must have the following attributes:
(1) Performance
(2) Style (Looks)
(3) Limited run
(4) Charisma
I just totally believe the ZR-1 lacks 2 & 4 above. Again, just my opinion.

I agree with you, it does seem a bit lacking in those areas if you are looking for an exotic car. GM did seem to hit the mark in making a balls to the wall corvette though. To change the look too much would make it no longer a corvette. If dodge were to come out with an ACR for 120k and 700 hp, would they have failed because the car looks like the normal viper?
LOL, I never said I was the god of sports cars. I'm just saying smooth tubes and no radio don't seem like a better upgrade than the ZR-1 is over the normal vette. If you are going to slam one car and praise another, at least stick to your own rules.
I agree with Rev that the ZR1 is a failure. All it did was produce more power than the Z06 at the price of adding 200 pounds. It's still ugly, will most likely be even less reliable and doesn't have the presence of a Viper. In other words, they didn't fix what was wrong with the previous vettes, by building the ZR1.
The difference between the ACR and the ZR1 is that the ACR does not cost 40k more than the standard Viper. If you want a fast, great looking vette, you will have to do what I did; modify an early C3. Since the C4, vettes have been ugly and it seems hopeless that GM will realize it.
