I thought these cars were quick? Ranger must be the best 1/4 mile racer in the world getting a 10:90 bone stock. I know our altitude is at 1,200 ft ASL and my 60' was a 2.0, but still I would think an 11.8 would have been sufficient
I did run a tenth of a second quicker than my buddys' 05 Viper with headers, no cats, exhaust, cam & heads.
Remind me not to have you as my driver if I decide to race my car for money, I'll lose!! JKIN' Mike.
If you can get your 60' time better and get better shifts, you will pull alot better time. Also Ranger ran 10's on drag radials, rev'd the crap out of it and got a great 60' ft. Your mph was decent just work on the quickness of your shifting and your start and you will see the times fall. Good luck Mike
LOL, nope, traction control was off. That first race was a guy with a Mercedes V-12 twin turbo that ran 11:20. I never knew those dumb things were that quick!
My shifts were pretty much as good as it gets, and my reation time was .031. My 60' was at a 2.00, so I know there is a half a second lost right there.
I was shifting the car at 6,200 RPM, instead of redline at 7,000.
I believe that the flaw may be in my launch. I need to learn the trick of what to launch at and how to ride the clutch out I guess.

That Benz was a SL65 I believe.... no slow poke at all. Or it was a chipped SL55. Great torque. A friend on mine and his dad owns one each and they run 11.6 completely stock with traction control on. Here is their video I made for them.
And Mike, you should enjoy the C6 Z06 with Lingenfelter cam and exhaust in the runs.

I believe the powerband and the power curve starts to drop around 6800-6900 so that is where you want to shift at. You will pick up alot more time and around 3-4 mph gain also
I thought the 6,200 area was where the Z06 makes its peak HP. I think it starts to drop off after that.
A buddy of mine was telling me the next time I go he will leave the scan tool plugged into the comp and then download onto his lap top later to see what the car is doing and fine tune from there.
just cause you have hit and crossed your peak power RPM doesnt mean its time to shift! theres more to it than that. take her to redline, and you will gain a half second

Hmmmm, I may have F'd up then.
I will go out on the street tomorrow and try that to see how it feels.
If I get pulled over can I tell them that Phunk said it was OK?
I know a guy that runs his C6Z06 at the drag strip in Sacremento . The best he can do is 11.4 ( street tires) and he has Kooks headers, exhaust and intake on his car..

Now that is a decent time. The only thing that he has over me is the Kooks headers, but they would only make a tenth of a second difference in the 1/4.
I'm thinking it's the driver. I need to learn what I'm doing wrong.

I wish I read this post before I went!!!!
Here's how Ranger got a 10 second pass with his, of course I'm sure he is at sea level, so that has to count for 3 to 5 tenths of a second. Launch_Tips
Practice, best advice I can give. The reaction time really makes no difference
on the time you run. Learning to launch the car will get you going in the right
direction. Your
60' times need to be somewhere between 1.6/1.7 . If you are granny shifting you
will never run mid 11's.
Good luck with improving your runs.
I learned the "shift at red line" thing too on my SRT Ram. I also shifted at the power/torque curve (5300 or so), once I bumped it up to redline I immediately gained a half second or so.
On a similar note regarding your time, a friend of mine who had an '06 Z06 completely stock (I advertised it in the Viperalley classifieds) ran somewhere in the high 11s at Bandimere (5500 ft elevation). He recently sold the car to a guy who lives in Texas and within the last week ran an 11.7 @ 123.
Somehow he got in an accident with it and munched the side of it pretty good. Heres a few pics of it now:
Well it looks like I screwed the pooch on this one!
Learning from Ranger's post I shifted about 800 RPM sooner than I should have, launched the car at too low of an RPM, and didn't let any of the air out of my tires.
I'm thinking there is definitely a half a second right there in negligence on my part.
Here's Ranger's 10 second pass, but I just noticed it is with drag radials, but still pretty damn good... 06_Z06_DRs

Dood, was this your first time ever at a fucking track or what?? EPIC FAIL based on what you just said right now...
