Here ya go. From Google.
African Teak Pterocarpus angolensis
This is a deciduous tree, which may grow upto 30m tall.
They can be found in open woodland and wooded grassland from Zaire to Kwazulu-Natal and are thought to indicate well-drained soils.
The bark is dark grey, rough and fissured.
The tree produces flowers from August to Febuary and starts fruiting from January to June.
This is thought to one of the finest furniture timbers in the world.
It is often used for window frames, panelling and floors.
Vervet Monkeys and baboon eat kudu and elephant feed on the leaves and the pods.
A remedy made from the bark is used to treat malaria and black water fever.
Burnt roots, which are then drunk in water is said to treat asthma.
Many other abdominal complaints ranging from diahorrea to bilhartzia is treated by drinking remedies made from the roots.

Good one.
However, my G-raf is not anatomically correct, and even if it were, it's a female. (Note her baby next to her.) You do know the difference don't you.
Where did you get it and how much did you pay?
These where extremely popular in Zimbabwe (i was there last november). You could find this at any market, really nice hand made giraffes (i brought one back home with me).
They cost about $5-10 usd if you really bargained hard.
-Par
p.s. Zimbabwe is a seriously fucked up country...
It is a good looking giraffe. I like those sorts of African wood carvings. Got some white wood gazelles and elephants from the old Angola ... which is actually now Zimbabwe I guess.

Well, I guess you pay a premium if you're not in Zimbabwe. ($5 - $10 for a nine-footer?)
Paid $850 for the two at a gallery in Orange, CA. If anyone wants details, PM me.

Actually, i wrapped it in newspapers that i crumpled up to resemble bubble wrap. Put a shitload of tape around it. Worked like a charm.
Also brought home 4 cases of wine from south africa, 4 masks (about 3-4 foot each) a 30lb stone sculpture and a ton of other stuff (souvenirs, t-shirts, photo equipment etc etc). Had about 200lb of luggage when checking in.
Flew first class from johannesburg to SFO, no questions asked about my excessive luggage
Thanks to delta and amex for your very generous mileage programs! LOL
