in this world that would do this:
Some of the fellow club members here have had Greg Good port heads for their
vipers. Two of them are running fine, the third one we were having difficulty with trying to get tuned right. (tuned well enough to drive around while waiting for PBJ to show up and tune them with his expertise.)
Well, to make a long story short, we found a problem with the heads. (I won't say what it was, Greg can sound off on that if he wishes.) I call Greg and leave him a message stating what we found wrong. He calls back and offers to repair them asap. We found somebody close that could remedy the situation quickly and we could get the car back running alot sooner than shipping to Houston and back. (PBJ is scheduled to be here in less than a week. Hence the quick timeframe.)
I call Greg back and tell him what the cost of repair and labor would be roughly and he said that would be fine. He apologised continually over the phone conversation. We ended the call with a mutual plan of attack and I started the ball rolling on this end.
SURPRISINGLY, I get a letter in the mail 2-3 days later from Greg. It's a letter stating how he felt really bad about the situation and wished we lived closer to help personally remedy the problem. Attached was a check for the amount of the estimated repair. WITH NO PROOF!!!!
I am REALLY GLAD we decided to do bisiness with Greg Good!!!! A stand up guy not out to just make a buck. I will always refer him to anybody that needs good quality head work. (even if it take a little longer than the other guys.) lol
I cannot express enough how much I was blown away by his actions. This kind of service does not happen much any more. Greg gets a HUGE "THANK YOU!" from the Minn. Viper Boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And an even bigger thanks from me!!!
Stand up bis. man and OUTSTANDING human being!!!!!

Nice Greg. There are people who know that if you piss off one person they will tell # people. It is looking at the big picture and doing what is right that seperates some. After hearing this it makes me want to do business with him so it worked.
When the cam I ordered from him the other week didn't ship...he called me before I had a chance to call him and he explained that comp didn't ship it and apologized for their F-up.
That's awesome!
Nobody chipped in with my shit when it went south. It's good to see that somebody has a heart!
Way to go Greg, you are one of the last of a dying breed!
Just found this thread. Yep, on the Gen 2's they get pretty thin near the rocker bosses by the time you get good flow from them. All three sets of these were done to run 9's on a Roe blower (hopefully 1Tony1 is lonely in the 9 second Roe club), so they had to be as good as I could get them.
I pressure checked them before shipping as I always do, but after they had been run a little while one of them developed a hole and was letting oil in. All of the ones in the past that were too thin were caught during inspection before the heads left the shop. I have a plate that goes on the assembled head and I pressurize the port and spray the outside of it with leak detector. This is the first one I've had that passed the port pressure test and then leaked later. It's a combination of a rough uneven casting on the exterior, and not being able to get on that area with a pair of calipers to check thickness. What I did a few weeks ago to remedy this is to buy a sonic checker made for checking aluminum cylinder heads. It has come in real handy. I can check any area I'm porting and can find core shift and steer away from it.
In this pic you can see how rough and uneven the outside of a Gen 2 head can be. And yes, that is a recessed area on the port wall near the bottom of that intake port and is a prime place to have a problem .

Here's a pic of the sonic checker I've had for a few weeks now. It tells me exactly how thick a particular port wall is. It's great for working on the short side radius, which is a dangerous area to work on with most heads.

Sorry Mitch for the mistake on my end. It won't ever happen again.
I hope Joe gets some good numbers out of those cars this weekend.
Greg is easily going to be my choice next year when I am ready to yank my red cars heads and freshen her up.
I'll even give you a special performance guarantee.
I guarantee that you'll be able to catch those warlord BB-Gun weilding kids riding around in the golf cart that have infested your neighborhood lately.

Awesome job GG. Hard to find someone that honest anymore. And to SNKEBIT way to go standing up for someone who has gone above and beyond. Far to often you only hear about the bad shit that happens and not the great things. what do they call it dirty laundry? Great job all around.
