I'm looking at a single-post lift for the garage to store the GTS above my DD. Long term, I am going to purchase some property and build a storage building along with some attached bays to rent out to 'customers' or friends who need them. Therefore, I'd like a lift that can be moved relatively easily to another location should I decide to store the car(s) elsewhere.
Superlifts was at Barrett-Jackson this year, and they had their new single post lift on display. Although well built, the ceiling height requirement for thier single post exceeds my garage height of 10'-11" (131"). I started looking at the Bend Pak lifts, and they have a single-post 6,000lb. unit that'll fit. The local distributor put me in touch with an installer so that I could discuss some delivery "challenges" that an installer may be able to solve. As it turns out, the local installer I spoke with advised me that the single-post lifts are a PITA to install, and won't be able to be done without a forklift. He's recommending that I consider a four-post lift.
The single-post is attractive because it doesn't have outboard supports that are probably going to intrude on the floor space of the garage. However, the installation issues have me concerned.
Anybody done one of these?
Here's a link to the Bend Pak unit...FYI...the 6SP is 119" high, not 131" (as shown on the specs on the web page). Bend Pak - lifts, auto lifts, car lifts

I believe you meant a double post lift not a single? I did happen to recently buy the revolution lift from rotary (american) and it is one of the best investments I could have made to the garage. Not including the coolness factor when friends come by. You can search my posts from a couple months back or type revolution lift installed in this search engine to view pics. If I wasnt such a lazy fuck I would just post the link for you. Knowing Boplaw, he probably will though.
the only thing your parking under a single post lift is a go cart or a motorcycle anyway. Never even seen a single post lift installed in a residential application before.
82.5" clearance with the Superlifts unit (the pic obviously doesn't show it at full height).
72" clearance with the Bend Pak unit.
Yep...they're for residential applications, but are more expensive than the two- or four-post units. The Bend Pak is $3100...which is still worth it for the convenience of not having four posts to trip over and walk into on a regular basis IMO.

they look cool. i forgot they made those BUT, my revolution lift cost more than 3100 i believe. closer to 3650 I believe.
Wow...it seems that the 4-posts are around $2000-2500 from what I've seen. American Hydraulic has a nice unit for $1700.
As I recall, the single-post Superlift is over $5k, but won't fit my garage. The Bend Pak is less expensive, but fits.

someone that feels like disputiing this, don't bother. I am too tired to argue anymore today but you get what you pay for is the general rule EVEN reagarding lifts. When I had been researching this purchase it boiled down to either the backyard buddy or the revolution lift. Believe they were both the same price and features .it just boiled down to looks and i liked the rev. model best. i could have got the 2k unti and saved a couple grand but a brief talk with Donny at Rotary will explain why his is priced more and you make the choice.
I'd like to get a lift, but have a reletively low ceiling (9'-0") in my garage. Question: Do these lifts have an adjustable upper limit switch so as I wouldn't send the car up into the ceiling?
