Carter tore his ACL in a pre-season game his rookie season. He never recovered. Not sure I would consider that a big bust. More like bad luck.
Someone mentioned Len Bias. That was more bad luck. You can't be a bust if you die before ever playing a game. Bias was a sick baller, and joining a team like the '86 Celtics wasn't going to hurt his career. He might have overshadowed even MJ in the late '80s.
My biggest bust ever? Dan of "Dan & Dave". Dude was the highlight of 9 months of Reebok commercials and then failed to even qualify for the Olympics. At least Ryan Leaf actually played on the world's biggest stage in his respective sport.

Rickie Williams. Drafted out of Texas, makes bonehead move #1 by telling the saints to not pay him a huge contract, but to pay him based on his playing. Screws himself outta millions. Then, they trade him to the dolphins, where he starts to play his ass off, but cant pass a damn drug test. Leaves the NFL to live in a tent for a couple years, comes back, and STILL cant pass a drug test. uughh.....
Hey, of the players in the Canadian Football League (no....really...there is a Canadian Football League!!) that had 100+ rushing attempts, he finished 7th in yards per carry and touchdowns.
With all the USC talk lately, reminded me of a USC Basketball Player that was insane, so good his nickname was Baby Jordan!
I haven't played against too many guys that were as explosive on Offense, or as athletic. And a great guy to top it off.
