8 New Spark Plugs = $893.47
My '06 Jag suddenly started to miss while going up hills last week, so I dropped it off at Bennett Jaguar Friday morning to have the problem corrected.
Later the same day, the service writer calls me, and says that they found a dead plug in the diagnostic data stream. He recommended replacing them all, so I said DO IT.
I picked it up after hours and the bill for 8 plugs installed was $893.47.....just a flat un-itemized figure. Of course, it was after hours and no one was there to talk to. So, instead of making a dog and pony show out of it....I just handed the young girl cashier my check and left with my car. I asked her to have the service writer call me on Monday morning.
Ha.....can't wait till they try to run the
"UN-SIGNED" check thru that I gave them.
Am I wrong in bitching about the price....or just being cheeep? I figured an hour or two labor @ thier posted labor rate of $55.00per hour, plus maybe $50 for the 8 plugs....but not almost $900.00!!

Plugs are $15+ a piece and if they changed any coils (coil on plug) that could be $80+ each. Sounds like part of the problem is the invoice.
Giving an unsigned check to the dealership will make them blame the person who took it.

$900 for 8 spark plugs seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Its a Jag, I think you got a great deal. I am just surprise it was not over a grand.
Go back to Bennett and get another one. You must have two of them since one will always be in the shop.

Maybe you'll get lucky and it will go through.
Otherwise, if I were the manager of that place, I'd take advantage of my lien and come get your car.

$55 a hour seems pretty damn cheap, every dealer in Cali is at least $100 to $110 or more.

$900 for changing 8 plugs? Sure seems like gouging to me...
But so did $8500 for a new clutch on my Diablo...
