....for the first time in forever I closed my eyes and it was dark, the next time I opened them it was light No middle of the night bathroom runs, no dogs bothering me, no 5am trash trucks Since I stopped drinking this has been a problem for me, sleep. That is all.
Try Melatonin. It's not a drug. It's a chemical your brain no longer makes in quantity once you get past your thirties. The stuff works better than a sleeping pill; you'll literally be "sleeping like a baby."

Congrats SoCal!

Hang in there, it will even out. I have friends who have been there, done that. It takes a long time for the body to smooth out. And staying drug free is the best course for someone trying to accomplish what you are doing. I have a close relative who has been trying for 8 years or longer with no success. I have been through the mill trying to help. having been through that and reading your posts over the years, I really admire where you have made it to. Hang in there. Lot's of exercise helps, wear yourself out that way but not right before you go to bed. More sex might help in the early evening but I'm pretty sure you don't need MY advice on THAT one. LOL. I'm not the best sleeper myself, any noise wakes me up, one of the things that works perfect for me is the "white noise machine" You know, those things that produce noise like rolling thunder or waves, or a rainstorm? Little clock radio thing, without it I would never make it to morning. With it I'm totally good, You may just be a light sleeper at this point, try one of these things and just BLOCK the noise. The noise of dogs and trucks etc. seems to be what's bothering you. No noise, blocked out = sleep all night, at least for me.

LOL thanks Lee, especially about the sex thing. The late exercise might help, I do all mine early because of the heat. I got a "wave" machine which helps. Biggest problem is I drink 12-16 .5 liter bottles of water a day and need to take a piss at 3am
