i really like the stealth aspect of the car. imagine what it will do with its all wheel drive, auto trans and about 8 psi making 570 rw hp and 630 rw tq!
John, are those numbers s/c'd or turboed? And I'm assuming either way you had to do some work to the engine internals?
Edit: From looking at the dyno graph it's gotta be turbos. BTW, if that 364 rwtq was box stock then DC isn't cheating anyone on the claimed power/tq ratings--that's under 15% driveline loss through an auto.

those are from a single turbo Charger SRT8 we started which we started tuning on the dyno last week. it made 484 rw hp and 530 rw tq on about 5 psi. yesterday it made 570 rw hp and 630 rw tq on about 8 psi.
right now the motor and heads are completely stock. this particular Charger SRT8 will be getting upgraded pistons, rods, heads, etc.
however, i feel that the 5 psi set up could run on an otherwise stock motor.
we have a Jeep SRT8 with a very similar turbo system that will be on the dyno this coming week. i would expect to see similar power gains.
10 psi should be good for a bit over 600 rw hp. not sure how much power the transmission will take. but the 480 rw hp / 530 rw tq setup should be pretty safe in my opinion.
What dealer out in Vegas? I'll be out there in the next week or 2, I'm sure they'll take my '05 Hemi as a trade in. I won't take black though, what was the color of the other one?
Really? My 2001 Grand Cherokee V8 4x4 kinda sucked, the seats especially sucked. The power form the 4.7 is no where near the power from my 5.7 now (especially towing). This is my 5th Jeep GC since the 1996 model year.
I bought mine at the Desert Jeep on the east side of Vegas. There are 2 Deserts, so check out the east side location. That is the lower rent part of town so they deal alot better than anywhere else in town on them. They had a Black and the Red, but again this was almost 5 months ago. You might be able to check their inventory online. Very easy to deal with, I was in and out in less than 2 hours. They had advertised my new 05 for $15k off in the sunday paper, so I called them up and verified it was still there on Monday morning. I got there and they actually had 2 05's in stock but was only running the special on the one that didn't have the DVD system, the backup sensors or the chrome wheels. Once I got there and saw the one with all the additions I told them it was either $15k off that one or no deal. They tried for about 15mins to convince me they couldn't do it as they were getting special money from Jeep to move the other one and I got up walked out and got into my car and the salesman came running out to stop me and made the deal. Funniest shit I have ever witnessed at a dealership, except for the time I got kicked out of a dealership in Atlanta and the cops called, but thats a different topic.
As far as old vs new, my only real complaint is the seats and all the plastic. I am big at 6-4 275lb and they just don't seem as good as the former model to me. They are flat on the bottom and don't hold you in the seat like the others I feel. Other than those 2 complaints it does its job. We don't drive it alot, as we only have 3200 miles on it in 5-6 months of ownership. I haven't towed anything with it yet or gone offroad so I can't say anything about those areas. But if they are like the old model than it should do fine, as I could drive that sumbitch through a foot of snow when I lived in Lake Tahoe like it wasn't even there. Thoroughly impressed in that area with Jeeps.

Is that the Charger you have done with the single turbo???
My only concern with building the Jeep is the driveline.....
Trans. Transfer case...etc.. How much is too much..
Costly if it breaks..
yes its a single. i agree with you on the powertrain. thus we will be beating the piss out of the shop unit to find out where the limits are. for most folks, this kind of vehicle is their driver and not a weekend car or race car. thus i would be conservative on power and boost. the 5 psi system should be enough power to impress most but still conservative enough to be reliable. we will find out very soon as part of our road testing and validation program.
here is a video of one of the dyno pulls. at the end of the pull you can hear some boost leaking out of the intercooler pipes. the run after this we picked up about 25 rw hp and about a pound of boost.
Thanks -- We have a little Ranger Reata 210 Fish n ski I think the 6500 will be more than enough but the 3500 on the SRT would be close. I really don't like the look of the new Durango and that is why I am looking at the Cherokee.
A 4.7 or 5.7 Jeep Grand Cherokee pulls my 26' Offshore race boat with no trouble, either power or handling wise. Boat, trailer & full tank = 7K lbs

They are fucking amazing offroad, I had all top of the line 96, 97, 99, 01 now 05. I'm 6'2" and 250 so not far off from you, the '01 seats swated sideways and acutally broke. I like my 05 better, more leg and hip room and the rear seat fold better.
Jeep beefed up the drivetrain on the SRT over the plain 5.7, it's supposed to be pretty bullet proof.
and its a Jeep right??
Supposed to be tough...
My 2-minute no-modding the new car rule has expired so there you go...
John,
Nice vid...
Post the Jeep one when you get it done..
I can agree that this isnt going to be a track vehicle but I can
also say that it is and would be one hell of a street racer as
it has all the benefits for it..
Socal,
Since you have owned many of these, does the exhaust of the GC sound weird to you? Ours sounds weird, but didn't know if it was because of the MDS. I have to take in for the 1st oil change and was going to have them look at that and it also seems to sit lower in driver front.

It's quiet, like every other one I've owned, nothing out of the ordinary. The seats are like 8 way adjustable, so I haven't noticed.
John, if the base 5 psi kit seems to work well on a stocker, do you plan to offer it on a DIY basis? And if so any idea on cost?
As much as I like my Viper there's something just evil about raping people with an SUV.
yes, we would like to be able to offer a complete kit for under $10k. we will do several installs on srt8's at our shop and put lots of miles on them before making the final call to release a mail order kit.

Might be giving you a call John, once the break in is done
