Man, it has been noshit HOT the past three days. Three record high temps in a row... Tammie and I were out on PK in my brother's brand spanking new 35' Sea Ray sport cruiser this weekend so it was tolerable. Still, to see 100 heat in April is NOT a good sign for what the summer may hold in store for us. The good news is that it'll be cooling down mid-week with pasage of a couple of cool fronts. Maybe even a little rain in store for us....
PK is a GREAT lake! i went scuba diving there during my certification. very clear and very deep!
glad to hear you and T stayed cool. we didnt have the A/C on until Saturday. It was nice just having the windows open but good gawd did it get hot in a hurry! lol!
If you want some good information about how it all works in CA check out this site: www.caiso.com
I worked there for the last 9 years. You can see the system load and etc for CA. Not that this helps with TX but like I said there is great info on the site.

Yeah, it is a great lake. It reminds me soooo much of Lake Travis. Two of my brothers own a strip of condos on the lake and it's always fun to go up there. They keep a three bedroom condo available for guests. They are about boats like I am about cars and tractors. That new Cruiser of Tim's is da bomb! The bow sleeps 4 people comfortably and has two flat screen TV's and all the other amenities you need for long stays. The above board is spacious and easily seats 12 people. But talk about a gas guzzler. Twin inboard 350's with independent controls for throttle and direction make it easy to maneuver. Cool boat for sure. I do believe it'll be one of the bad boys in Hell's Gate this summer.

It was raining when we drove to Yosemite on Friday morning. Friday night it snowed up in the higher elevations. Saturday we were hiking up Vernal Falls in bright blue sun, wearing t-shirts. On Sunday it rained again all damn day & night long. THEN we woke up on Monday morning to about 4-5 inches of snow - everywhere. Weirdest weather I've ever seen in my 36 years in Nor Cal.
I bet it will rain like mad in Austin when we're there next week.

That is really deterring me from wanting to move to TX
Aw honey, it may get hot here, but it's still TEXAS. Just head on down and roll with it. Texas rocks!
I like dry arrid heat, but it seemed to me like Houston and SA got a little on the humid side, which I'm use to but I would rather sit and bake rather than boil.
slaughter.............have you ever gone cow tipping? until then you have no idea how fun it is in WI
i waived at your Gate House as i drove by on SW Pkwy today HR.
LMAO that's a typo only an attorney could make.
In other news, the thirty-minute rolling blackouts have me feeling pretty smug about my decision to have a backup generator designed into the hilltop compound. It will power key circuits in the kitchen, the computer/network room, and misc other things around the house.
So I'll still be able to surf the alley even during the rolling power cuts of the future. Which is nice.

WE LOVE YOSEMITE! We have been there three times and cant wait to go back. The hike to Vernal Falls is wonderful!
Where did yall stay? We like the cabins in Curry Village.
It's probably still better than Wisconsin. But dealing with rolling brown-outs, I think not.
its the first time i have ever heard of rolling brown-outs here. its not a regular occurrence. as nate posted above, we have our own freakin power grid!
(i think HR bought it for his new house, he just lets the rest of the state use it cause he is a giver...)
Come on, someone has to highlight this excerpt and question it.
As long as the little cameras that monitor the room under the pool aren't on that circuit, and the Crown cooler is, I'm comfortable with not questioning a thing.

The cabins in Curry Village are where we stayed. Good times. We saw a coyote up real close on the trail coming back up the hill from Vernal falls. On the way up we were passed by a search and rescue unit humping backboards and medical equipment up the trail double-time. We heard that a hiker had fallen and broken a leg. Could understand why, too. We had to cross six or seven really treacherous snowy sections where the trail was no more than a 6" snow ledge across a nearly sheer slope. When we got to the top @ Clark Point we saw the SAR guys had a girl on the backboard and she was just flyin on morphine or whatever they'd given her. We hung out to watch the CHP helo evac come in. They couldn't land on the small rock outcropping so they lowered a cable and winched her up and slung her stretcher against one of the skids and then dove off down the mountain side into the valley below. Pretty badass ride if you ask me.
Mon morning we woke up to 5" of snow all over the valley floor. Took off on an early morning walk to the base of Yosemite falls. Almost nobody was there and we watched ice tumbling down the river beneath the footbridge, rainbows shining in the mist from the falls. Beautiful place. Can't wait to go back.
Oh and we got shitty drunk in the lounge Sun night. Swilling smuggled wine, huffing squeeze-cheese and playing dice while it poured outside.
