I'll never forget Abbra-Cadaver and Minnie Pearl Necklace opening at the Astrodome for Admiral Poopy Pants and His Dancing Teeth. Those were the days...........
Chiming in late here, but Monsters of Rock at the garden in the mid 80's (about 13 at the time). The cool father took a bunch of us, Scorpions, Dokken and Kingdom Come.
Now that was a concert, Jersey, big hair and that burning rope smell.
I took my younger brother to his first concert when he was a junior in high school. We went to the Dylan opening for the Dead at RFK. I'm pretty much out of my gourd on a combination of things and my brother manages to get into an argument with one of the security guards about being in the infield without the proper tickets (it's a dead concert for fuck's sake). The next thing I know my brother knocks the guy out and there is blood flying out from the security guards nose. When you are peaking on your first trip the last thing you need to see is blood flowing.
Only my brother could get in a fight at a dead show. Now he's a lawyer, go figure.
My first was Three Dog Night in about '72. Next was Chicago in '73. It got harder and louder after that.
Easy there, I am not quite as, umm, experienced, well rounded, worldly wise, old as yourself. It were my first concert, I was like 13 or 14 and my older brother drove me to the concert and picked me up afterwards. What a wierd time that was.
Jonathon Brandmeier with Steve Dahl was the second at the same venue.
"We're not leavin' till we're heavin'"
Howard JOnes, he sang "Things can only get better" I just looked on the web and he actually has a web site. www.howardjones.com, if you are from my generation you will recognize him. If you watched MTV in the 80's you'll know who he is.
