I like my hip hop, rap, and R&B. I even like a few of Kanye West's songs, although I don't like the guy personally. So I'm sitting down watching MTV after work when this Kanye West video comes on that I've never seen before. It's called Diamonds (from Sierra Leone). It is about the "blood" diamonds mined in Africa by sometimes children and people forced into slavery. All the mine workers in the video were black of course. Which in reality they all are I'd imagine. The people in charge of the mine and looking at the diamonds in a scope were all white in the video. Which probably isn't the truth in the real world.
Then it cuts to images of people who actually buy the diamonds. The first scene shows a white guy giving his white girlfriend a diamond engagement ring. After which blood runs down her arm. Another scene shows 2 apparently rich white women window shopping for diamonds with white store owners looking on. Another scene shows a couple of other white people buying diamonds. This all seems to imply that if it wasn't for white people's need to buy diamonds these kids in Africa and adults working in the mines would not have to be working in such harsh conditions.
The funny thing is there was not one scene showing black people buying diamonds. With rappers wearing diamonds (ice) from head to toe these days (and Kanye himself considered a rapper): on their wrists, on their fingers, around their necks, in their ears, even in their teeth I find this more than a bit hypocritical. Especially since Kanye West himself sports plenty of diamond bling bling on his body. It's all whities fault. Blame the white man for everything.

He's an idiot that is perpetuating racism in this country. The more we are reminded of racism, the more its in the media, the more black rappers and activists preach about it, the longer its going to take for racism to completely disappear from society.
Anyone read the article about him in Playboy this month? He stated if God were to rewrite the Bible, he was sure God would pick him to be one of his main disciples.
He just likes the controversy, he even admitted it in an interview not to long ago. Like when he shot the cover of Rolling Stone in the Passion of the Christ pose with the crown of thorns on his head.
Just another way to use a ceratin controversial issue for more $$$ benefits.
And all along I thought it was Pres. Bush that didn't like black people.I didn't realize it was all whites holding them down(supporters of Kayne West) I think this guy is a idiot.
Kayne West is not doing anything that hasn't been done year after year to promo "entertainment." Get out there, say the most dumbest fucking thing you can think of and somebody somewhere is going to buy your shit.
Which brings us to a related topic - shit. Hip Hop (the gayest term in the industry) and Rap suck. You may like it now but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck. It sucks. It is crap. In 30 years people will stumble across some gayass rap shit and say "WTF? This shit sucks." And they will never admit that they once listened to it.
Unlike rock, disco and 80s, there will never be a "classic rap" radio station. Rap never evolves. It's just the same shit with different words.
I do enjoy some of his music, but he definitely promotes reverse racism. Which is fine...this is a free country and I couldn't give a bigger CRAP about what he thinks. But don't get all bent out of shape when I decide to speak my mind either.
