Bush makes it official today "We will defend Israel"
Not that this would suprise most, but it is the first time it has been said in clear terms. It sounds like a step towards Israel being the one to take out the Iranian sites.
The whole situation over there is totally f'kd up. Hamas' new government, Syria, Saudi, Iraq. What the hell has the US gotten itself into? I guess we'll have the best seats in the house..

Why wouldnt they? They have to. I think right now it is more a question of "how" and "when" not if. I really see Bush's statement as a nod towards part of the "how"
I would agree with that, my statement is more of a discussion tactic.
I personally would love to see Israel put a serious hurting on the now Hamas elected government. Landslide election. I guess there goes there theory of the people are good , but the government is bad huh? Overwhelming support for the desctruction of another country. Yup, there not all bad are they? On a related note to the crap going on over there, what do you think it would take for our country to fly off the handle and just level everyone over there that isn't an ally? A nuke in New York? A nuke on our soil would be about the only scenerio I could see ourselves using a nuke.

I have no idea how legitimate that speculation is, but as noted in that link, it presumed Pakistan would be overcome by a religious-based coup, and thus be far more antagonistic than it currently is to Israel (if at all currently).
If things went thermo, you have the US shoulder to shoulder with Britain Australia and the Czechs in-country, with Israel's best pilots and planes headed out mad as a hornet's nest.
I don't think you'd see too much surgical strike work after the radar nets are down. The Coalition would get downright Asymmetrical and Ugly.
