MS Outlook help needed...

Facq! Outlook is freezing up on me either before it even opens or as soon as I try to delete any message. Retrieved my mail just fine, but all the messages that should have been fed into my Norton Anti-Spam file are in the Inbox with the little Anti-Spam tag at the end. When I try to delete one of them everything freezes up and I have to click the "end program" box 5 or 6 times before it closes.

Please don't suggest another mail program either as this one is permanently embedded at the base of my cortex or so it seems. And dammit I've got work to do and emails to send. One other factor, the program started acting like this right after I had visited some rather unsavory websites. :bones: I'm sure V4C would claim this is god's retribution for my sins...

Re: MS Outlook help needed...

I've had the same experience using Norton Antispam. I got SO sick and tired of Norton freezing and locking my computer up I took out ALL of my Norton Anti software.. AntiSpam, firewall, Anti Virus, etc. I've found that in some computers for some reason, it's Norton that takes over your computer and freezes anything and everything up. Don, try and go to internet options, and delete cookies and temp files, reboot and start up. (Mine would work doing that but freeze up a day or an hour later)

Antispam would freeze my outlook express up when I tried to delete a message or clean 1 message or 10 messages out of the antispam folder. No matter WHAT I did, (reinstall, reboot, clean my cookies, temp files etc etc) it would not solve the problem. I was fighting what you describe in O.E. for months...... No help with Symantec or Norton or their online database either.

No Norton products on my computer anymore. I bought another anti virus / firewall, etc. works seamlessly..

Thanks Gerald, FWIW I switched to regular Outlook from Outlook Express to avoid these problems and I've had very few in the year I've had Norton Internet Security, main one being unable to view many of the videos linked here in AG. If you find you're having problems still I would recommend regular Outlook instead of OE.

That being said my schizophrenic Outlook is working just fine now. Apparently I just had to get upset enough to post about the problem and it fixed itself, or some web wizard here went through cyberspace and put the fix on it. Thanks to anyone that read this post anyway!
