Re: posting from psp

Okay, this things fucking rocks and after 5+ months of owning it, I'm just now getting around to actually playing with it.

1) I've uploaded a bunch of videos I encoded and it plays them. You can encode entire DVDs if you want to watch movies on it. I bought a 1gb card for $69 from Best Buy, but they have a $220 4gb drive for it.
2) I've uploaded a couple dozen photos and you can slideshow between them - excellent screen quality.
3) I just connected it to my wireless networks and you can browse (and post) using the default interface (no WAP) and its pretty slick (even if entering text is awkward).

I did upgrade the firmware in it and had to upgrade my access point firmware; but connecting is a snap. I had no idea you could do all this on the PSP player. Time to encode some of my favorite movies so they are ready to go whenever.

Re: posting from psp

You don't need any hacks, just upgrade to the latest firmware:

http://www.us.playstation.com/psp.as...SoftwareUpdate

The browser and everything else is included. I'm using InterVideo iVideoToGo to encode my avi/wmv clips (and it encodes DVDs):

http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/Home.jsp

It's pretty slick.

That's gonna be my Christmas present to myself. An extra battery or two, a few games, some movies, and some MP3's--international travel will never be the same.

Re: posting from psp

Okay, little more info. I ended up buying the InterVideo DVD Copy Platinum package instead; lets you do even more than the other product (can rip entire dvd movies onto your PSP) and still encodes any format video you have.

Web browsing is amazing, even the JavaScript rollovers on the main menu of this page work. Moving around the entire page takes a little getting used to, the cursor works off the thumb button and can be used to point for clicking.

There is a 4gb drive you can buy for $220, but I think I'll wait until they release an updated drive which should have alot more than 4gb of space when you consider the video ipod has 30gb or 60gb!

A Sony PSP with 60gb of drive space would be awesome.

Update: http://www.i4u.com/article2966.html says that a 50gb drive will be available in 06.

Re: posting from psp

Does the PSP have all of the wireless internet stuff already built in? All you have to do is have it connect to a wireless network?
