I have a stray cat that has taken up residence in my back yard with her three kittens. I started feeding them to keep them out of the garbage and was wondering if they can be tamed. The kittens look to be 6 to 8 weeks old. What are my options here? I don't want to have to fly WW in to cap them with her .45 while singing free Tookie ditties.
Just keep feeding them. Eventually they will get use to you once they see you all the time.
My parents have a ranch and a stray cat started coming around. My mom kept feeding it and eventually it started to come into the home. Now, the cat lives inside and never wants to go back out. Tuned into a major lazy house cat.
They'll be scared of you at first. To overcome their fear, you should mask your unfamiliar scent with something that puts them at ease. Typically, I make a poultice using catnip and canned salmon, and rub it over my body. I then approach the cats.

Are you being serious or is this something you use to get close to the wife?

Nix. To familiarize them with your scent, catch them in a live trap. Then, piss on their heads.

Same story here with Kitty Kitty at my farm. (That's her name)
She went from the hay barn to the tool barn to the garage through the doggie door to the living room to the foot of my bed and finally on my pillow while I'm gone.
All this took about 6 months very gradually.
