I haven't seen if Schil has posted that he got his yet; but after a couple weeks here's my thoughts on it so far. I've used it just about daily since getting mine in and while I keep my mini as a backup, the nano has quickly become my player of choice.
If you get one and care about how it looks, you'll want to find one of those "sleeves" to wrap it in. I keep mine in my gym bag and don't care all that much how it looks, but with the black finish it has a "scraped up" look after a few weeks of being mashed in with other stuff. I tried to find some sleeves with a belt clip, but they aren't available yet and I can't find anything but the arm band Apple offers (I'll pass).
Sound is as good as the mini - very impressed with the quality and sound levels. I never use the earplugs they have with the iPod, I use Sony's earbuds and am very happy with those. The ear buds run about $50 and while I know getbit loves those $300 pair, I use mine almost exclusively at the gym and I don't want to get a $300 pair of headphones all sweaty. In over a year I've only had to replace one pair because the kids used them and lost the rubber ear parts.
Battery life is awesome; I've only charged it once in the past two weeks. They say 14 hours of use and I have no reason to dispute that - seems about right. Using the AC charger from my mini the thing charges in less than an hour.
Overall an excellent product but will be happier when more accessories are available.
The only flap I've heard is that the screen scratches very easily and becomes illegible. Apparently there is major outcry about this already on apple's support forums, blogs, etc.
The whole front panel scratches easily - I can still read it, but I'm going to add a protector to it today (I have some plastic that sticks on to protect my digital camera screen).
I can't say I've noticed any scratching on the mini or fullsized iPod.
Mine is my first ipod so I don't have any comparative knowledge, but it's been excellent. As MP stated, it never seems to run out of juice and charges quite fast. Also fits in my suit's outside breast pocket perfectly which is perfect for getting to and from work every day.
Still have to get a grip on the software and how to use it with 2 computers.
I just got back in Houston yesterday after the diaspora. The Ipod just arrived at FedEx's Houston facility this morning--so hopefully will be seeing (and hearing it) soon!

My son (age 15) purchased a Nano 2 weeks ago. First trip on the bus for a XC meet and being tossed in the gym bag, and the screen was scratched. Since there are NO accessories yet, we took an altoids tin and sanded all the paint off and did a machined finish. Lined the tin with leftover jewelery box foam with the fake velvet attached. Bingo! Perfect makeshift carrying case. (until something better comes out). Could even drill a small hole and use a rubber grommet for headphone wire. Necessity is the mother of invention.
I bought one for my son to use at college and he loves it as well. If you want a cool accessory, spring for the Bose Docking Station. The sound this thing puts out is incredible. He said you can hear the base two floors away.
