A titanium exhaust is one way of getting rid of weight...
"The Dixis Spirit E46 M3 exhaust system is entirely made from titanium. At a scant 14 pounds (yes, only FOURTEEN pounds), it is 38 pounds LIGHTER than the stock OEM exhaust system."

All those flat radius bend pieces will flow like shit compared to mandrel bends. For that kind of scratch I'd rather have a carbon fiber exhaust that actually improves performance than that bling shit.

Inconel. And that's a hard material to work with. I think one of it's traits is to dissipate heat well though.

Re: $20,000 exhaust?
Inconel is not that hard to work with. It is just different to weld. The weld pool appears to be dirty, kinda like it is covered up with a film all the time.
Inconel is jsut another series of steel that has an ultra high nickle content. It is the material that F1 headers are made from. It is heavier than Steel, but its excellant tensile strength under extreme heat (read: glowing orange) allows the fabricator to use MUCH thinner pipe. Using paper thin piping allow the F1 headers to be a reported 30oz. each.
Last time I heard Inconel scrap metal was worth 40/lb a couple years ago.
