I would suggest that you look into a Chevy 2500HD with the 6.0 diesel. I have several friends with them and they are very happy with them. In the end, its your money and your choice. Good luck.
I have 1 96' dodge diesel 151,000 miles up the boost on the turbo and still get 16mpg pulling a 35' 5th wheel 19-21 with just the topper on and it doesn't ride half bad.
yay one of the cars of choice for the gay nation i knew you were one of us let's hook up drive each other
It is a tad gay or chickish, but the fact is I can't go pulling into work in a benz... then everyone would know what I make It's good to look humble to the worker bees LOL ...
The Cummins in the Dodge has the best history and performance. Unless Ford has finally come out with a decent diesel I'd go Dodge all the way. The japanese diesel in the chev isn't even worth talking about.
I sell the same Cummins engines in many of the products we have. Many are still going strong with no major issues even after 30,000 hours of service. Hell we've taken apart 45,000 hour 359 cu in Cummins and have found little wear. They rule in the torque dept also.
The Ford 7.3 was originaly a international harvester engine. :thumb:

Problem is the Auto-tranny is the weak leak, any kind of upgrades and away they go.

It was originally used in Iternational commercial truck line for years prior to Ford using them.
I would disagree with the other statement after owning numerous 7.3 and owning two 6.0 with automatics ......I would NEVER consider the 7.3. The 6.0 gets better fuel economy more power than the 7.3 also the new automatic(Allison derivative) is the only automatic to run with a diesel ....old automatic they use with 7.3 are pieces of SHIT!
Dodge has numerous problems with their atuomatics and Chevy continues to have problems with Duramax's tranys.
Chuck.... I would ONLY buy a manual if you tow on the interstate ......
I had a manual as a daily driver and it drove me nuts in the city doing 4 shifts to get to 45mph ...diesel are efficient when RPM are kept in the lower RPM band.
With this new FORD hybrid transmission I currently will never own a manual trany, the only exception would be in F550 or F650. It will pull heavy loads, better fuel economy and NOT A PAIN IN THE ASS TO DRIVE.
Chuck is a pretty spontaneous guy who isn't afraid of a road trip. I wouldn't put it past him to throw #34 on the trailer and hit the road headed towards the CA racetracks.
That being said, I would go with diesel with a manual. Better fuel economy, less maintenance costs, longer motor life, better resale value.
