on ExtremeFitness just lost his wife and 8 year old son in a car accident. His name is John and he's been a big help on my site - as a former intel guy for the government and a current PI in California, he's been very helpful in keeping the EF site under control from some psycos.
John is in a pretty bad place as you might expect; as a husband and parent I cannot put into words the grief I feel for this man or the fear I have that it could happen to me or anyone else I know.
He wrote this to me about his son, "I would always go into his room and kiss him goodnight thinking he would be asleep..I got home and his mom handed me the camera and said ,"just take a picture".....at 8 he could do 50 pushups/situps/windsprints/judo/krav maga/and do curls with 10 pound weights or a gallon of milk to show off...........his fave things were playstation, dinosaurs, hiking and going to the range with his .22 cal rifle to kill paper targets."
I'd like to ask that you say a prayer for my friend, he can sure use it right now.
I am so sorry to hear that. My son is turning 5 tomorrow, and I can't not even imagine what he is going through. He is in my prayers. I think I will go give my son some extra hugs today.
PLEASE, If I may suggest...use some VA funds to send flowers to the funerals on behalf of the membership at VA.
I would suggest not using the VA funds for somebody who was not a member of the site or a member of the greater Viper community. The Alley doesn't have that much money (maybe $3500 if I remember the last figures) where it makes a whole lot of sense to respond to everything.
Now, with that in mind, I would suggest that if members want to do something for this family that somebody set up a PayPal collection. This way the Alley still has all its monies available for strategic development, sponsorships, etc. and everyone who wishes to present something to MP's friend can do so as we have done in the past with stuffed animals and such for other kids.
I was in a good mood till I read this, now I feel like I'm going to get sick!Nothing anyone can say will not lesson the hurt.My prayers go out to your friend and his family.
Just reading this runs shivers up my spine. Please send our condolences. Good GOD, being a parent....just the THOUGHT can bring tears to my eyes. What a horrific tragedy. SO, SOOOO Sorry to learn of such an occurrence.
I'll be sending an arrangement on behalf of the EF website using EF funds; I am sure John would appreciate the gesture, but Smackie's right - we should continue our policy of only doing that for VA members (as we have in the past).
I will, however, let him know about this thread so he can see that people have him in their thoughts.
The greatest fear I have in my life is to lose one of my four boys.
I can only imagine the loss your friend must be feeling having lost his son and his wife. Really sorry to hear this, we'll say a prayer for him and his family.
