SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- The mother of a 12-year-old boy killed in his own home by one of the family's two pit bulls says she had been so concerned about one of the dogs that she shut her son in the basement to protect him.

So let me get this straight. Instead of getting rid of the dog or locking the dog up in the basement, she locks her son in the basement?????????
It sounds like she wasn't stupid at all. Sounds like she is making up a story because she didn't really care about her son. Shame the pitbull didn't attack her.

They actually had her (or an identical story in the past week) on TV and she said something to the effect, "Well, I guess the Lord thought it was my boy's time to go. There ain't nothing else we could do." I kid you not.
