Source of royalty free music? or music creation software?

Anybody know of a site where I can download royalty free tunes?

Or what would be a good software for creating my own tunes?

Seriously Chuck, there's no real such thing as "royalty free music" I don't think, at least not from major artists. You can download a lot of Indie stuff I think for free.

The best way really would be for us all to just exchange libraries. You can fit a lot of mp3s on a DVD.

What genre of music are you looking for?

There is software out there to create your own loop based sound tracks for production work. Sony Acid and Fruity Loops come to mind.

You can buy stock music all over the place on the web but stock music usually suckles testicles, and its usually way overpriced.

I've had the best success pillaging indie music sites where unsigned artists post their tracks. If you find something you like usually all it takes is an email for permission to use the track. They are usually pretty cool as long as you agree to send them a copy of your project when you're done.
