despite my personal opinions of the UFC; last nights lightheavyweight fight was hands down one of the best fights in and of the history of fighting. regardless of type, style, or sport last nights light heavyweight bout was nothign short of amazing. 15 minutes of nonstop pummeling. wow, amazing match. :thumb:
then to see ken shamrock get his ass whupped in the first couple minutes; some guys just dont know when to say when on retirement eh wtf was he doin kicks above the damn waist for anyway, dumbass, you would think after the first time he tried and lost his balance hed say nope not worth the risk but nooo he does it again, and got smashed for it too
You are correct on the high kicks, to the fucking head no less. Truly a rookie mistake. Maybe by the time you're 41 there have been too many head shots. The LHW guys weren't the best technicians in the game but their heart is matched by none. Great fight. The first fight was a joke. The guy from MA should have gone to law school. It was only a fluke elbow that got him into the finals as he was getting his ass kicked badly in the semi's.
rookie mistake but shamrock is as far from a rookie as one can be, must be senality or too many hits to head in the past.
the conditionining of those LHW was insane. unstoppable. then five minutes post fight theyre breathing normal, talking normal and smiling. now thats conditioning

Yea the first were alright, but i have to say that Mirco Cop is hands down the best fighter when it comes to watching matches.
The best is when he takes down a 350lb black guy with a single kick.
it was a shame though having that fear factor dumbass commentating, like that fuck can even spell the word fight. he didnt have a damn clue, half the time couldnt even get right or left correct for the punch thrown. keep the reality TV idiots in hollywood, dont ruin a good serious sport with shit like him. thats like when they tried dennis miller for football :fist:
I saw two fights, the first being a 2.5 minute school yard beating - man, that was rough! The second was an impressive 15 minute long battle, those guys must've been beat (tired) after that!
It was funny where we at, this chick was "oooohhh, that's barbaric!" turned away (right at the end of the first fight), so after the fight they changed the channel, so Phong (local Viper/Ferrari owner) went up and made them change it back! LOL!

Actually Rogan has been commentating on UFC for a couple years (at least) and is usually pretty sharp when it comes to his knowledge of Mixed Martial Arts. He does Jui Jitsu and Muay Thai and has the injuries to prove it. He wasn't at his sharpest at points this time, though.
Anyway, those were great fights, and next Saturday night should be a number of good fights. Couture vs Lidell should be good.
There were a number of other fights that I wish they had shown. I can't believe they stretched the 3 fights into 2.5 hours! Not that way on PPV....
Mike, Josh, and Bobby train at a local gym here in San Jose (AKA). Watching these guys spar can give you an appreciation for what it takes to compete in this sport.

We were all sitting around watching Shamrock and thinking, "this guy's about to fucking level the other dude." And then he was called for a TKO?! On the replay it looked like he was still awake; his head never hit the mat.
The LWF fight was awesome; what kills me is that they beat the shit out of one another, finish the rounds, and talk and bullshit afterwards. Very cool. I also thought giving both of them contracts was the best possible thing that could have happened. Great call from UFC management.

It looked to me like Ken gave up before he was ever hit (on the ground). He took some good shots, and didn't retaliate, so they will call that (almost) every time.
I have always liked watching Ken (and his "brother" Frank) fight, but I think that Ken has lost the desire. He is a great trainer, I understand (Lion's Den in San Diego).
my appologies then, i stand corrected on rogans alleged abilities and experience in the sport but his commentary was nonetheless pathetic.
Hey Mojo - I agree that Rogan was not very good, and at or about UFC 42 I swear he was drunk off his ass when he was commentating. Believe it or not, he's a lot better now than he was when he started w/ UFC!
Not much I can say about the fights that hasn't already been said. The LHW match was by far the best althou I was a little surprised that they gave the win to the kid from Athens, Ga. Shamrock looked like he just gave up when he hit the floor, Didn't try to get the guy off of him or attempt to protect his face that much! I was at Hooters and they didn't have the volume to where I could hear but I would have liked to of heard what the 2 LHW said to one another after the match as well as what Shamrock had to say after his losing effort.
the 2 LHW were truly class acts. they represent the epitomy of professional fighters. they fought like pitbulls with heart and body and afterwards were able to be professional and mannerly. the way it should be; rip the fuckers head off but when the bell rings over, shake hands, its only a job afterall
