Nothing I send via AIM/yahoo/trillian is a mission critical comment.

We have our own inner IM system that is behind a cisco client firewall.

the other ones is only for parents to find me in emergency and friends.

Trillian has a user-user encrypted link option, which is what I use.

Another good free/open source alternative is GAIM: http://gaim.sourceforge.net/

GAIM also is multi-client just like Trillian and allows for encrypted point-to-point communique.
