Re: Rolex 24
Pretty impressive that Paul Newman is driving at 80 years old! I haven't seen his car except for a brief run off the pavement. Is he reasonably fast or is he pissing everyone off?

I get the impression they are doing whatever they can to boost interest. They've brought in a lot of different drivers from a lot of different venues. If Paul Newman wants to drive they aren't going to stop him.

I have been trying to stay awake and watch this race. But I have slept in my chair more than I have seen any of it.
Nothing like the old days. You don't even have to go back in years that far, just back to the days of Mad Max Papis and his drive in the 333SP. That was an exciting ending.

Not that you were suggesting otherwise VS, but:
For the record, I met Newman at Limerock when he was driving a Datsun for Peter Sharp racing (I think) and he's a HELL of a nice, REGULAR guy! He invited everyone into his trailer for beer and popcorn (of course). He's got to be the least "impressed with himself" movie star there is. Ask him a driving question and he'll sit you down and tell you everything he knows. HELL of a nice guy in person!

Enjoyed quite a bit of those Pontiac-Riley cars! :thumb: Saw most of it and enjoyed the DP cars passing laps around the Porsche GT3 cars.
