Embassy attack in JIDDAH
JIDDAH, Saudi Arabia -- Saudi officials say four security officers are dead in the gunbattle at the U.S. consulate in Jiddah.
The Saudi Interior Ministry says three attackers are dead and two more injured and captured. A statement from the ministry says the attackers threw explosives at the gate of the fortified consulate and then entered the perimeter.
Officials say the attackers hit the heavily fortified consulate with explosives and machine guns, injuring several people.
A U.S. Embassy spokeswoman in Riyadh said all Americans at the compounds have been located and none were held hostage. The spokeswoman says two local staff workers have been hurt.
