are you taking about the GT or the GT40, I am guessing its the GT, then you have to look at what the GT is better lighter? more HP? if increasing the HP is the cure all then I would say YES, but you have to look at why the GT is better and then work on making the Viper in those target areas.

What's even more fucked up is everytime you talk to a mustang guy about his car he says it's a GT. So now thanks to ford you have to differentiate between a GT40, GT, and the GT Mustang...Someday ford will get their shit together and not need to rely on styling cues from 40 years ago to build their cars of today...
